It looks to me like it will be pretty simple to turn on and off according to this excerpt from the AT&T website. Last line.but I wonder, if we can cancel, how easy the process would be to turn it on and off? as easy as with iPad with cellular?

So it sounds like if I don't care about the cellular function at all, I can just skip it during setup process and never touch it again. If I do that it shouldn't trigger anything from AT&T, right? Anyone with experience with something like this?
Why would you bother buying an LTE model if you're not planning on using LTE? That's a $100 difference in the price of the watch.
Personally, women's clothes don't have pockets like men's, so I frequently don't have anywhere to put my phone. If I then have to carry something from my office to somewhere else in the building (even a sheet of paper), I cannot bring my phone since there's a crutch in one of my hands. I wouldn't care if it were another $25/month. That convenience is worth it to me.
I might buy an LTE watch just so I can have it, if I ever want to turn the feature on. I don't think it's something I'll leave active all the time. It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Why would you bother buying an LTE model if you're not planning on using LTE? That's a $100 difference in the price of the watch.

don't disagree. doesn't mean we should spend $120/year on this. ultimately each person needs to decide whether it's worth it to them or not. for some it'll definitely be yes, others maybe no.The majority of us have spent $120 a year on worse.
How many calls can you receive on your iPad when you are on LTE ? Ipad Fully functional device no.Well said; this is exactly the issue. It's not the monthly amount, on its own, that makes this so awful. Putting aside the fact that it's ridiculous to have to pay monthly per-device fees at all when we are already paying for the data, I pay $10/month for my cellular-enabled iPad because it enables the iPad to fully function outside of Wi-Fi, anytime I want to use it. But the Apple Watch LTE will have nowhere near that level of functionality and should not come with the same monthly charge as devices such as phones and tablets. This is the American carrier companies again giving the big "F-U" to consumers.
I went into this figuring we'd get hit with a $5/month fee - which probably still screws over customers - but I would have tolerated it. $10/month is flat-out robbery.
I am going to upgrade to the Series 3 but am still not certain I'm willing to pay $120/year for this. I run a lot and have been waiting for the day when I could head out with nothing more than my watch and AirPods, and it's disappointing that now that it's possible to do so, I would have to fork over so much money for the privilege. I hope the carriers see blowback from this and come up with more reasonable pricing.

It's still more functional than an Apple Watch, regarding Internet access. How many calls can you receive on your iPad when you are on LTE ? Ipad Fully functional device no.
What band did you include with your SS Series 0 watch that you sold? I plan to do the same thing with mine. It came with a white sports band but now looks pretty worn, while the watch itself looks a lot better, probably because it has the sapphire crystal. I have other bands that I could include, but I'd like to keep them for the new S3.$10 per month isn’t a big deal to me. Hopefully, one of the carriers drop to $5 per month and others follow suit. I was actually thinking the watch would be the normal $20 per month for extra devices on AT&T so this is a good surprise. I can easlily find some junk around the house to sell for $120 per year lol
I will be buying the SS AW3 GPS+Cellular w/ White Sports Band. I sold my SS Series 0 for $150 yesterday!

Thanks! For me, that was the band I wore the most! I'm liking the Nike bands now, tho. And theI sold my white sports band. It just so happens that was the band I wore the least so it worked out perfectly. Good luck!
That's a really good point! I just ordered a non-LTE but may exchange it within the two week grace period, since there are other bands I like better than the one I'm getting. Also, just a warning about the 3 months of free service if you have AT&T. Their offer gives you a credit for three months AFTER your third bill, so you pay for it upfront. I'm not sure how other carriers have their offers set up.I am upgrading from the series 0. I just started swimming, so I really want one that is waterproof. I ended up buying the series 3 w/LTE with the new loop band. I REALLY do not want to pay the extra $10 a month. I originally was planning to buy the Nike w/o-LTE with the new loop band, but the Nike ones with the new loop only comes with LTE. Then I thought about buying the other non-LTE Nike one and buying a new loop band. Then my friend said if I am going to be buying the band separately, it is only $20 more to buy the LTE one with the band I really want. I figure that I will activate the LTE and try it for 3 months for free and then decide if it is worth it or not.
As many as you want...How many calls can you receive on your iPad when you are on LTE ?

milanese loop is also a favorite, but I'm definitely keeping that one.
