AT&T Will Unlock Off-Contract iPhones Starting Sunday, April 8

I request yesterday and I got email in few mnts. Have not tried yet in India but let you know if it go through.

did you bought official unlocked iPhone from Apple or Off contract ATT iPHone?

bring the receipt to apple store, tell them, they should take care of it.

Apple store most of the time very helpful. I assume you paid full price.

ok so i bought a iphone 4 off of craigslist and tried to get it unlocked today. heres what happened:

1st try: gave my imei, said it can be unlocked, but he cant unlock it. he told me to go look on the internet to find a jailbreak. wtf

2nd try: told them my imei , took down some info, and said that ill get a notification within 48 hours.

i dont have an att contract and never have, in case anybody is wondering

Why is the wait time so different for everyone?
AT&T is such a shady operation...

current paying customers.. that they can see clearly are out of contract and eligible.. right away

everyone else.. 8 days from the day the get case number issued. tommorrow people will be told 4/18/2012 etc..
 
Anyone that got their iPhone on eBay have their's unlock or received any email yet?

I did Sim Free :))))))))))
 
has anybody restored their phone before getting the confirmation before getting the email and having their phone unlocked? im just thinking that apple and att are taking their time with the emails.
 
I am using phone with ios 5 but 4.10.01 with snowbreeze for using gevey. Is there a way to make this unlock without restoring? Just putting simd or sth? any experiences???:confused::confused:

Did anybody even read the AT&T statement?

Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer's account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.

allensoko - and, seemingly, half the people posting on this thread - is not a qualifying customer with a customer account.

So why are all of you trying to get your phones unlocked when you aren't? :rolleyes:

Well it never hurts to try. You may get 1% chance of unlocking for trying, but you'll get 0% if you don't try. So why not just give it a try?

but so what, just give a try, if they unlocked it, then you are lucky, if they don't, then keep using the gevey. It doesn't matter if you are customer or not, they will still takes care of it if you have the proof of purchase of contract free iPhone, cuz the unlocked iPhone 4 came out a year after the original release, as long as the purchase date is before the unlocked iPhone released, you will be fine

I fit into the above category and was told it could be a week. Wonder why some get it now and others later.
