As per usual, NYC will miss out for years. Largest density of population in the USA, but way too expensive to roll out along with all the landlords being paid off by Spectrum (TimeWarner) now Comcast to not allow other competition. I can't even get Verizon FIOS in Hells Kitchen, or RCN, AT&T, nothing except Spectrum (even though the MidTown hospital that was recently renovated which is directly across my street gets FIOS).

Totally corrupt, has been for many many years.

We are forced to use Spectrum and have to pay a ridiculous premium which sucks! ie: 400 down, 20 up for $90 per month. Add TV, comes to $138 before tax. If you want 1Gig down / 35 Mbit/s Up with Spectrum, this offer will cost you $200 to install and cost you $120 a month before tax just for data, No TV. Disgusting. Yes, the maximum upload speed with Spectrum is 35 Mbit/s! Not 1Gig like FIOS etc.

Here is Comcast's Rate Card. Make sure you type in a NYC Zip code. https://www.spectrum.com/browse/content/ratecard.html

In Australia, we have a thing called the ACCC. https://www.accc.gov.au which is designed to protect consumers from anti competitive behaviour.

Can't wait for 5G to roll out so I can say F*** YOU Comcast!

What does spectrum have to do with Comcast?

Great, I'd just be happy if AT&T could get me service at home that I could complete a voice call without flip flopping between WiFi calling and non-Wifi calling because I'm only at 2 bars and even on the fringe of that. AT&T has had problems in the Denver area because of cell tower placement issues and I'm not sure 5G will solve that. All of the first adopter cities mentioned I believe are very flat topo and people in those parts don't have as much trouble with cell tower placement 'blocking' their views of the Rockies like we do here in Denver!

I just got 4g service 3 years ago in central New York. I won’t hold my breath. Still don’t have any WiFi options with Spectum stopping 1/4 of a mile down the road.

FWIW, I have to get my home internet over an ATT hotspot - they added it as another device on my unlimited plan. $20/month unlimited. So the $70/15 is as a standalone device. Bundling can reduce that cost substantially.

I just want to hit between 20-30Mbps up/down consistently with AT&T. I don’t have a need for anything faster at this time.

Right now I jump between 1Mbps and 8Mbps. It’s a shame.

Health risks, do some research on why 5G is very bad. Definitely not looking forward to 5G rollout. Seems like a majority of people are clueless of its true risks.

Yeah. Someone earlier linked to a new story about some lady saying it was going to cause cancer. I don’t remember seeing how she was an expert in the subject. People said microwaves caused cancer and cigarettes are safe. We all know how that turned out.

would be nice if companies got 4G working everywhere, mine occasionally drops back to 3G on train ride in to work

Yes bring on 5G and give us free throttled LTE once we blow through our “unlimited data” since it’s so outdated and slow right now.

Charter owns Spectrum, formally Time Warner. Sorry, Comcast was mistaken.

Ok. Comcast is actually pretty decent.

They have so little time to push this out before shutting down their 3G network in August 2021...
Verizon on the other hand is planning on shutting down their 2G network in 2022.

What are you talking about? AT&T has not announced any plans to shut down their 3G network. Not only that, but Verizon has announced that they are shutting down both 2G and 3G in the next 12 months. So I am not sure where you are getting these 2021 and 2022 dates from.

Working in the industry.

Big move, we’ll have to see how this plays out in the real world — it’s here!
It’s beem here. Lol at those tin foil hats who think 5g towers will end human civilization as we know it, they said the same thing with every new cellular technology.

Here's a fantastic dive into what 5G means for phones in 2019. The millimeter wave tech that provides the 5G speeds will get blocked by rain etc. and is a much shorter range than 4G and it doesn't penetrate structures - probably only see true 5G (millimeter wave) in big cities. In the mean time 4G will keep getting better (and that's what you want on your phone).

This is from the Android specialist on Ars Technica - his view is in the title of the article. The pictures showing what's required to go from 4G to 5G in the 1st Gen smartphones hardware and its implications for cost and reduced space for batteries is amazing.

Yawn. It won’t. Just speculation off one guys opinions. Think for your self for one second, do you think they would wasted money releasing tech that would fail on a daily basis due to weather? The same stuff was said with 3g/lte blah blah blah. There is nothing you conspiracy theorist can do to stop the deployment and integration of 5g. Lucky Apple is playing the smart game and waiting (like they did with lte) till all the kinks get ironed out before adding capabilities to their phones.

Folks in Waco, Texas have been waiting for something good to happen in that city for 20 years. How the heck did they get on that list?
bwhahaha nothing good ever comes out of Waco. Actually that city is booming right now.

Yeah, because every video you see on the internet is accurate.

I'm pretty sure it's more complicated than that. Measurement breaks the entanglement and without measurement you have no information. Also as far as I see it has not been verified by other scientists.

Sorry, but no. First of all the energy is not high enough. Second even if you were standing by the antenna you would get a headache and run away before any real damage occurred.
