Thank god I still have unlimited and get a discount....it is a damn crime how much cell phone bills are!

I wonder how this will effect any of us grandfathered into the 'unlimited data' plan for $30 a month via AT&T. My guess is that the change in the plan may remove unlimited data for users that still have it... It would be nice if it didn't. But my guess is this may be a chance for AT&T to try and purge some of its unlimited data customers.

If you have the unlimited data plan, they aren't forcing you to switch.

Paying $120 now for two iPhones, 3Gb data on one and unlimited data on the other. I thought that was overpriced, but I guess not

From what I can calculate, it seems like these shared data plans only benefit people with either a lot of people or few people with many devices on one plan. Or possibly anyone that needs unlimited minutes, but who talks on phones anymore? :p Therefore, I am glad that AT&T is not forcing users to change to it. :)

What about corporate discounts....do they apply do the shared data plans, my current price is discounted 25 percent, and I would love to be able to switch to 20 gigs for a discount, but if they go verizon's route where data isn't covered then I am staying with my current plan.

Is it really? I can't find any info about tethering. Just additional tablet but I'm assuming it's for a 3G or LTE device. do you have a link?

It's in the first post.

AT&T's new Mobile Share plans do include tethering and mobile hotspot functionality on compatible devices, while also offering free access to over 30,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots around the country.

Remember when the iPhone came out? $30 a month for unlimited data & 200 texts; no overlapping & confusing plans, no need for quadratic equations … then Google came along and sold us out.

Actually, the EDGE plan with the original iPhone was $20/mo. It changed to $30 on 3G.

How is this Google's fault? It seems to me that unlimited went away at AT&T after their network became saturated with iPhones and at Verizon when the iPhone showed up. If anything the popularity of the iPhone is what sold us out.

It's funny how everything is Google's fault even if they have nothing to do with it. lol

It's a weird way to present the plan too because now it looks like you're paying a device fee + data/voice/text whereas before and what people are used to is paying for a voice plan + data.

If I were doing their marketing I would have created the diagram differently.

I would have had the top line be mobile share + unlimited text and the bottom line be Unlimited Voice per set.

The math is still the same - but visually the way they have it is a turn off

Clearly there's a break even point where you have so many devices that the Any Share and Mobile Share plans become cheaper.

I'm happy they are here if only to simply and unify all devices under one bill.

If/when the iPad mini comes out, the existence of plans like this will make me get a 3G model. For an extra 10 bucks a month? Why not?

And I'll do it in a hurry, too. No way tablets are going to remain just $10 for long. Watch AT&T jack that up in a hurry.

Right now I'm rocking their 200mb data + 1000 text + 400 minutes.. it ends up being like $71

Am I missing something or would this switch be perfect for me? 1GB of data = $40/month + $30 for talk.

I just looked at my account online and for 30 out of my 31 billing days me and my wife have used 260 minutes of out 550 minutes in my plan, why in the hell would I need unlimited.

Apple, please save the day

I refuse to switch over! It's just not financially beneficial for me. Good idea, poor execution.

"...and a per-device charge that varies from $10 to $45 depending on the type of device...."

Are you kidding me? A per-device charge on top of everything else?

Why are we still being ripped off by these greedy "contract" plans. Apple has the market strength to get the wireless oligopoly to separate out "contracts" (which have a perceived great deal by stretching out the market price of the device over a year or two) from devices.

I am sure if apple sold a multi-network iPhone 5 at market rate (probably $799 or so) then many of us would finally see the wireless operators actually competing to earn our monthly business and see a decent multi0device plan.

That is much more than my current plan with att. 2iPhones and 2 dUmb phones and I have insurance on two.
Looks like they are just raising the prices!

They have to know that usage will just go up in the future so they need to have money for more equipment.

Logical but costly.

Are you ever going to have the iPad without your phone nearby. Why pay a $10 premium if the original plan includes a wifi hotspot?

Seems like $10 being thrown away each month
