AT&T appears to be experiencing some kind of outage, and many AT&T customers across the United States are unable to make and answer phone calls.

There are numerous reports of issues on Twitter, and MacRumors has also been unable to place calls on an iPhone associated with AT&T. The problem appears to have begun at least 30 minutes ago.

Customers affected by the problem who attempt to make a phone call are seeing the calls they place immediately disconnected. Incoming phone calls go directly to voicemail, and customers are not able to answer them.

@ATT None of my family with AT&T can make or receive calls. We live on the west coast and have different bills but all have iPhones. Is there an outage? - Dizzy (@DizzyGirlSusie) November 15, 2017

Many users have been able to fix the phone call problem by restarting their iPhones, so affected customers should try that right away to attempt to resolve it.

If a restart doesn't work, customers who need to place calls to friends and family members can still use FaceTime or FaceTime Audio. iMessages and text messages are also working at the current time.

Update: AT&T has confirmed that a restart fixes the issue, and is asking customers who are experiencing call problems to restart their iPhones. The company says multiple restarts may be required.

Was experiencing this, noticed I had a missed call when I went to my Mac, but my phone never rang. Tried to call out and straight to Call Ended. Restarted iPhone and it started working immediately.

This happened to me. I rebooted my iPhone X and things worked again. My wife's and daughter's phones seemed to be unaffected.

Thanks, guys. Added a note to the post that a restart is resolving the problem for some users.

I was able to get around this by switching to LTE Data only within settings so calls forced to 4G

It is not clear when AT&T will fix the problem, but the company is aware of the issue. In the meantime, customers who need to place calls to friends and family members can still use FaceTime or FaceTime Audio. iMessages and text messages are also working at the current time.

Some users have said that restarting their iPhones fixes the problem, but that solution does not appear to be working for everyone that is affected. If you're seeing this issue, though, it's worth trying the restart to see if it resolves it.

My daughter tried to call me and I saw the phone ring for a 1/2 second. She said it went straight to vm. Tried to call he back and the call would just stop without ringing. Did a restart and it fixed the issue for me.

Same thing in Nashville, TN. Could not call my office number. The phone just blinked and went back to the keypad screen. Turned it off, turned it back on, now it works.

I’m in Chicago and it happend for about 10 minutes. Tried to make a call and ended before it even rang. I turned on airplane mode and turned off and seemed to work after that.

TN. Rebooted and still would do the straight to disconnect thing.
Did like the poster up thread mentioned and changed to data only and was able to make a call.
Switched it back to Data & Voice and works

My Verizon FiOS also went down around the same time...

Currently running on my backup line which ironically is an AT&T LTE connection.

Virginia: iPhone X. Restart didn't work. VVM has been down since last night.

Latest 11.2 public beta, so it may be that....
