A Full Fat GTX480 in a iMac.

Yes, would be lovely
Yes would set the iMac world Alight.
Yes would make Games developers take the iMac seriously

Yes, I think It would be more lightly to see a flock of pigs flying overhead being ridden by Steve Jobs!

I'd make it happen with a redesign, But Steve Jobs will not :(

It's been so long... been so loonnngg..

I've been waiting forever, it seems. I just hope Apple don't have some magical-super-excellent (smoke screen) reason that the new Mac Pro + Nvidia cards will not support CUDA.

I want max RAM and offloaded GPU processing, please! :D

Inakso think it is an outrage. I wonder what is stopping them, costs?

Waiting for ATi to do all the work for them?

See isn't that just a fine piece of computer?

Thanks God!
A rumor not related to iPhone 4 antennae issue

Btw I think it's almost time for an iMac update.

Gtx 480 eh? That is one hot card! Hopefully the drivers will make it useful. Wish I had the money ton fork out for it, what CPU configurations will there be I wonder?

Not the ones mentioned here. The ATI 5000 series and the Nvidia 400 series are all full- or over-sized GPUs -- in the case of the really high end (ATI 5800s, Nvidia GTX 400s) they are full-width, take up two slots of vertical space and are nearly a foot long. Those sort of GPUs would never fit in an iMac.

Even the somewhat lower-end single-slot, standard-length cards (lower numbered ATI 5000s) would be hard pressed to fit. Maybe if Apple had a heavily customised build of them to fit into an iMac in a non-standard way, though.

Considering that kind of GPU do you think it is more related with a Mac Pro update rather than an iMac update ?

Yes of course it's for the MP. Lol
Upgrade the iMac to what?

If Apple included the NV480. I think they would need a case redesign just so that card doesn't blow up.

Hellhammer worked out the most likely card, the 5850 I believe, based off the 5770 IIRC?
