Ahh ok, I believe there are already lot a of people who had dumped the ROM for the 5870. I think it runs quite well on current hacks
That would actually be kinda hot. Although this would only be valid for Mac Pro owners, and people who are willing to take a huge risk and crack open their iMac/Mac Mini cases or unscrew a million screws and take tons of stuff out of their Macbook/pro.

Sure you can, if the GPU you replace it with is supported, it isn't simple though... And you can't replace any of the integrated GPUs easily, so the i guess i didn't mean the mac mini or regular macbook, forget i mentioned them

The graphics situation on the mac has been dire for years. Apple should have worked with either ATI or nVidia to develop high performance, low heat/power chips for macbooks and iMacs a long time ago, they sell enough of them to make it worthwhile for the graphics card companies. Same goes with drivers.
With the Mac Pro there is no excuse, Apple offers some of the fastest, most expensive computers on the planet but cripples them with outdated graphics solutions.
If Apple is serious about gaming, and wants to build on the success of finally getting Steam, they need to address the hardware situation.

Yea, there's nothing wrong with it - it's just that some people want something new and fresh - similar to when the iMac's ditched the plastic for the aluminium.
I still like the way the Mac Pro's look right now cause no matter what - it just looks like a beast.
Of course, I'm all for a new design that makes it look like a monster that can eat little children.... in a good way of course.
I should have upgraded to Leopard when it first came out. There's really no point in upgrading now, being so close to a new Mac. I've held off for so long. I'm sure I can hold off a little longer.
