If you haven't already asked an ATT representative stop pussyfooting around and do so already. I knew I was eligble for full upgrade but I wanted to 100% confirm before I start selling my iPhone so I walked into a store and walked out with the answers I need. Don't bother with ATT's cryptic messages.

Yeah, cuz the AT&T stores ALWAYS give you the right answers.

if att themselves can't give us the correct answer on this issue then everything is up in the air c'mon Geckotek I thought you had more sense then that ;). Like you said earlier we don't the consumers don't have very much information but presumebly as the release date gets closer ATT will have a much more streamlined system.

Pwahahaha, you're about to get laughed out of this forum if you believe that all the AT&T employees usually know what their talking about. I hope the wink means you were kidding. While some do, the ones that don't have a VERY bad habit of pulling crap out of their #@#.

The best thing to do is get it from a centralized, controlled system. Those *639# codes tell you exactly what the computer has on record for you. I trust that over some rep guessing just so they can answer a question. If the code doesn't tell you what you expect, start calling Monday and get a human online to correct or verify the situation.

You're right, as the release date gets closer we'll know more. But I won't trust the employees to truly know until much closer to release...and for some of them a few days into it. Especially since they often get their communications at the last minute. It's not always their fault that they are so uninformed.

Hey all,

My AT&T online account has said I'm eligible for an early upgrade since last week and suddenly changed last night to no commitment pricing. AND I talked to an AT&T rep earlier yesterday that confirmed early upgrade pricing would be available to me on June 15th.

I called again today and told them the situation with the online site and *629# text suddenly stating otherwise. She said to me that I AM eligible and it's what their system is showing her, she double checked somewhere else and told me I am early upgrade eligible, because I have an early upgrade available to me in November '10 that I can use for iPhone 4 in June.

I asked her to put it in writing on my account that that price is available to me. She said she shouldn't need to because the computer shows it, but that she would.

I bought a 3G on launch day of '08, and a 3Gs launch day of '09. I think everyone that has had an iPhone 3Gs for 6 months to a year will be early upgrade eligible.

What I don't understand is why you guys are constantly checking?!?! Leave it alone. If you keep playing with it, it'll fall off! :p

Wait until the 14th. If it's not obvious to everyone by now, AT&T is having issues getting everyone's dates set and the system is undergoing constant changes. Check on the 14th. If it's not correct then, call AT&T.

Until then, stop stressing, you're only causing yourself and AT&T more undue stress than you need.

Uh. Mine says that "You may select equipment at our full retail pricing. An upgrade may be available on 02/20/2011."

So it means that I'd have to pay $599, $699? I did my first early upgrade just last year. **** that.

I'm in the same boat. Don't feel bad.

I am in the same situation as well. I still have my call in to AT&T and am awaiting a reply as to the accelerated upgrade policy exclusively for iPhone 4 as posted on AT&T's website. I have a feeling that there are still a few problems via the early upgrade for many users. I hope we all get our wish of getting the iPhone for the early upgrade price.

Yeah it's ********. However, I think it's useless talking/confirming with ATT because none of the employees know what they're talking about, at least for now. They told me to contact Apple for pricing, so I did. I spoke to 2 Apple sales people and I explained my situation to them. They were both 100% confident I should receive the early upgrade price. They said that was the info from ATT and that anyone not eligible for the full subsidized pricing should be eligible for the early upgrade pricing. Who knows though..

This may have been asked already but we
are already several pages in....

I bought the 3GS last year while still in
contract from the previous second generation iPhone.

So, I ended up paying $500 instead of the subsidized price.

Question: Since I paid full price for the iPhone 3GS
last year why am I not eligible for an upgrade this year?

because you didn't pay full price, you paid the early upgrade price and thus resigned a contract to do so.

I keep getting different answers and dates also.
Im in the same boat where I did the early upgrade last June and now its showing I gotta pay full price and I may qualify for an upgrade February 20.
I talk to an AT&T rep and she told me I'd qualify for an early upgrade in February and full upgrade in June of 2011. WTF?
Then I went to this site: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone
And the Apple site is telling me I have to pay full price or I can do an early upgrade November 20 and full upgrade for $199 February 20
I still have no clue whats going on.
I really dont feel like paying the out of contract $600 price but If I cancell now I'd pay $120 for an ETF and then open a new account and get it for $199
So it doesnt make sense not to give us the early upgrade and lock us in to the new $325 ETF.
Its a headache :D

Ok, well I also spoke to AT&T and I got the line that since I early upgraded on my 3GS albeit at launch day, my 02/20/2011 is eligible for full upgrade pricing and my next early upgrade time is November 2010. ******** AT&T. I guess I'll be skipping iPhone 4.

My wife, however, will be getting one.

Chrystyn,

So, in actuality, the full price would have been the $600
iPhone without the contract commitment?
