I don't think it's that easy. The sim you get from the new phone is tied to your wife's line. You'll have to get a new sim for both phones before activating your lines. That's what the ATT and Apple rep told me. We'll see tomorrow though.

And I was told just the opposite, the SIM is not tied to a line......I know my buddy did this last year, albeit with Sprint, and he was successful. I guess we will see tomorrow.....good luck!
 
So...despite no further e-mail indicating a 9/21/14 shipment for me...it's quite possible that I could receive it tomorrow? (Crossing fingers and toes.)

What is your order status on the online order update page?

I wouldn't trust anything that CS has to say at this point...
 
Might help some. My order has been processing with ups label made but no tracking. Today order disappeared completely. Tried AT&T order tracking with different number on my family plan and it shows my iPhone 5 shipped by FedEx and delivery tomorrow!! Odd but I'm happy now.
 
Probably was not eligible AT THAT MOMENT. But it likely will be once it starts moving toward you.

Just catch it before it gets onto your local truck! ;)

Explanation of the AT&T Order Status Screen

When your status reads PROCESSING and not BACKORDER, it means that your order number has been paired to an iPhone S/N, it will be shipped in the first batch, and you will likely receive it tomorrow.

If it does say BACKORDER, it means that they received the order, and they anticipate enough stock for the 2nd or 3rd wave, but they have not paired your order number to the S/N of a phone (and this changes day to day) - so if it says BACKORDER now, it might not later today or early tomorrow.

The long and short of it seems to be, if it says PROCESSING you're going to get the phone on launch day. If it says BACKORDER, there is still a chance it will come on launch day.

i was told at the ATT store to call the activation line BEFORE turning it on and then u can enter the number that it was ordered for and choose to activate using a diff number so the number u intend to use the iphone5 on will be the one programmed to that "blank" nano sim that is inside the iphone
 
1910 here ordered @ 3:40am cst black 64g. Still says back ordered. I did not receive my confirmation email until 4:30pm sat afternoon. **** u AT&T!

Me me. I'm 910. I'm in progress and zero backirdered. It changed from 1 to 0 yesterday.

My AT&T order status says shipped, I have a tracking number but the tracking number isn't activated yet all it says is a shipping label has been made been like this since yesterday. I hope my phone comes tomorrow
 
Hey everyone, I was not going to post because I wasnt as stressed out about all this like most people on here, but I wanted to put those 1406 order number individuals mind at ease. I ordered a 64g black at 830am on 9/14. I was sent one confirmation email saying the order went thru, but not a single email from atat after that. Checked the atat website to see my progress, was at the pending stage til 18th when it said was being shipped, no confirmation number at this point. TOday, woke up with a confirmation number that is currently being tracked to Louisville and that it left there at 320pm today and will be deliever to me in chicago before 3pm. 140699 is my order number, so everyone in that group do not fret, when you should start to worry is if you do not recieve a tracking number by tomarrow morning i would say.

I think you're golden.

The tracking number wont be active until it gets scanned as it starts moving toward you.
 
Well...

Order 1010_________ through ATT. Got an email about my order through ATT premiere. Ordered on the 14th around 8am EST.

On ATT Premiere, it says "processing"

On ATT customer site, under my orders, says "Processing" with a Ship date of 20th. But it doesn't say shipped.

I haven't received any emails or indications that it's been shipped so really not sure what to make of it.

Well the two sites aren't in sync. One indicates 'In Progress' (shipped to warehouse per confirmation e-mail), while the other indicates the same BUT also shows '1' in the Back Order column. I thought maybe my order call in time was too late (approx. 11:30AM on the 14th) and I missed the now infamous cut. CSR tells me all is fine and it's not back ordered. Really now, Sherlock? Something is amiss!
 
I ordered on the Premier site at 7:30AM EST and I just got my shipping email with tracking info for tomorrow. 16GB Black.
