ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

I've been following this thread all week and haven't posted anything. My status yesterday evening went to shipped finally. Today I have received my tracking information through UPS and it should be here at 9 in the morning. I was backordered until Wednesday evening. I ordered at 3:10am EST, which was just ten minutes after preorders started. Here is too hoping everyone who preordered early enough gets their iPhone tomorrow!

Ordered 2 phones at 12:08am on 9/14; order confirmation (# 1406XXXXXX) and emails said 9/21 delivery. Today AT&T website still showed order is processing. Called customer service several times. Was told it could be 14-21 times until I get it. Other than that, "there is nothing we can do."

Canceled my order and placed an order with Verizon. Bye bye to crappy coverage (here in San Jose, CA) and crappy customer service.

I think you may have jumped the gun. But, if you think the service (other than the shipping confusion) is crappy then I guess you made a good move..

I've said that a few times. There is no "pre-order" column because AT&T only does pre-orders for iPhone basically. "Backordered" is being used in place of "Pre-Ordered". 1/0 as a value in that column means nothing.

Mine has been saying processing since day one... Still saying it as of now and I was the first person to pre order in my AT&T store... I'm having it shipped to the store... If mine is still saying processing now at 5 in the afternoon , is it still a good chance I will get it Tommorow ?

On my Premier order status page, mine says "Status: Attention." What on earth does this mean?

Same as me. Ordered in-store 1st thing and shipping to store, still back-ordered. Went to the store today and they said "nothing we can do". Called CS and got a $20 credit but they said it was slated to ship 10/4-10/15. Screwed..... there's no logic as to how AT&T processes orders. Next time Apple.com

they must have more black 16's that anything b/c i ordered a white 16 like 10 minutes before the black and the black doesn't say backordered but the white does

i was told at the ATT store to call the activation line BEFORE turning it on and then u can enter the number that it was ordered for and choose to activate using a diff number so the number u intend to use the iphone5 on will be the one programmed to that "blank" nano sim that is inside the iphone

What is the activation line? I was sent an email by AT&T with a link to the activation page.

Depends on the driver I've found. I left a note on my front door for the driver to 'Knock hard, door bell broken', came to the front door and saw a delivery attempted note. Don't know why the guy couldn't read English... Might, might not...

My backordered went from 1 to 0 this morning (EST), then this afternoon suddenly a tracking number appeared, scheduled tomorrow, woo hoo!

How your phones are moving (if you are getting it by FedEx):

• FedEx has a few hubs in the U.S. They have a "global super hub" at Memphis, TN which is why most of the packages are going there. From there, they will be overnighted.
  
• If your package now is at Indianapolis, it's because it's a national hub and second biggest in the U.S. So if you live close to this area, your package is here.
  
• Then there are regional hubs at Oakland, Miami, Forth Wort, Newark. So anyone living very close to these areas should be getting theirs from here.

Again, all these should be moving overnight on 9/20. The reason they are picked up early is because otherwise, it's impossbile to overnight so many packages at so many different locations. The other way to think about this would be, it's an overnight from the "hub" to your home. Since AT&T's hub is at Fort Wort, TX, they first had to spread it out across the U.S. Something which also must have affected updating the tracking info IMO.

So even unless you see no tracking/shipment info about your phone by midnight today, everything is not lost. You may still be able to get it tomorrow! Hope that helps to calm down some disappointed souls.

You are correct. We (FedEx) have been picking up trailer loads of iPhones since monday. The phones that were picked up before today went straight to the hubs by truck. I have been through all of the iPhone launches and security is very, very tight this time as compared to previous launches. We always had armed guards following us locally when we picked up a trailer full of iPhones, but it was just locally. This year, the guards are following the trucks all the way to Memphis, Indianapolis, Atlanta, etc.

So you're backorder column shows 1 but UPS says they have a package for you from AT&T? Was it for you specifically, or were they talking about a generic AT&T package?

Well I'm glad everyone's getting their phones. Enjoy your new toys tomorrow likes its christmas. Have fun. I got the shaft by AT&T, so me an my wife I guess will be waiting 2 more weeks.

I did it on my 4 and my wifes 4s. Walked in the ATT store middle of the day. No lines. 20 min after, I got mine at that time, and she got hers last year.

you know, seeing how many 1406's are still pending is giving me a little tiny bit of hope that MAYBE there might be something up with our orders. keeping us from receiving our shipping info but we'll still get our phones tomorrow as planned? maybe?

As i posted earlier i have 1406, and will be recieving my phone tomarrow. Was shipped out on the 18th and left Louisville today at 320pm. 64g black, ordered off reg atat website at 830am 9/14. Also recieved no emails or anything from atat after my first confermation email, had to check website.
