Because of this ^, I am sooo tempted to jump ship to Galaxy S3, heck, the S4 may even be out by the time we get our phones...
Perfect timing, my macbook pro is getting old, and my 1st gen ipad runs like a$$. So tempting. Really what I am probably going to do is by an iPhone out right and return it when my ordered phone comes in.
 
Good thing I preordered yesterday.

2 days ago, shipping was 3-4 weeks. Yesterday, it showed 2-3 weeks. Hopefully its closer to 2 weeks.
 
I totally understand what you are saying.. but like I said, I had an unexpected problem with my car. I already deposited a check into the account to cover for the phone and tomorrow is payday, so I will be putting more money into the account. All I really want to know is, will they really charge me for the full price of the phone if I don't come in and "rebuy" it? Because as of right now, my card has not been charged and I would think that if they sent out the phone.. they would already charge it to my card. Which on the email it said that it would be charged now.

Again, don't want to sound like your father, I was young once too (I'm 32, feel like an old man) but I hate seeing people in situations like your in. Expect the unexpected! Learn from my mistakes lol. It's very liberating even to have 5-10k in the bank! Seriously, once you get a little cushion (and it comes quicker than you realize if you really bunker down), you'll feel a lot better about buying toys like iPhone 5 and have something else come up! Sorry if I sounded like a prick earlier. Enjoy the phone. Still waiting for mine! And as for the phone charge... Expect the unexpected lol- they'll probably charge you 3X and really screw you up!

Marcus! I just called them and they stated that I am no longer on back order, they said no phone is? They are just fulfilling the orders now. The lady I spoke to the other day, said she looked and it said -10,000, now it says zero, so who knows, but online when I look it up it says backordered still??? Argh

baaaa!! my order came off backorder last night but hasnt moved to shipped today!! wonder how long its gonna be stuck in this phase now.............

Yesterday I went to my local ATT store to make an iPhone 5 upgrade. This tuesday I received an iPhone 5 16gb as a gift but I wanted the 32gb version.
So I went to the store and they told me that I could do that but I would have to pay the 299.99 at the moment, so I did. I received an email about an hour and half later with subject: Your recent ATT order status. It said that the order was placed and that it will arrive in 14-21 days.

So after 30+ hours I check on the https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/order_status_results.jsp website and to my surprise it only shows my iPhone 5 16gb order, not the new one.

I called to ATT about 30 minutes ago and they don't even know if the order went through.

Has anyone been through this?
Any help/tip/advice?

Cancel it and deal directly with apple. AT&T clearly demonstrated a lack of professionalism in their industry.
 
Long time lurker... first time poster...

Ordered a 16gb Black on 9/14 at approx. 9:45am CST.
Accepted terms and conditions
Was told that I would receive it no later than 9/26.
Received order confirmation with order # text message at 10:02 am.

Received a text message on Saturday stating that I needed to accept terms and conditions. Called AT&T because I had already accepted them, was assured that everything was fine with my order. Received another text message on 9/19 telling me (again) to accept my terms and conditions. Called AT&T again... this time, after a bit of hesitation and furious typing on their end... was assured that everything was fine... checked my order status... my order had been bumped to 9/19...

Have called AT&T numerous times about this... the jist of their response is... "you're not the only one having this problem..."

Obviously... I'm still on back order and showing an order date of 9/19.
 
I hope to make this brief... I ordered 9/14 at 4:34pm EST. Order was processed through Premier. Received confirmation e-mail immediately but order date changed to 9/16. Launch day, I went to my local AT&T store. I needed a SIM card to use in an old phone while I waited for my new one. They had a few iPhone 5's in stock. Said I could order if my preorder had not shipped. After a few attempts, I was able to cancel my preorder online and get the phone and leave the store. When I got home I had an email from Premier that said my preorder cancellation was not processed. SO I called and spoke with a CSR who told me they couldn't cancel my order, it was already assigned to be shipped. This is last friday, mind you. So I'm told a phone is still going to come to me. On 9/24 I got an email from Premier stating my preorder cancellation request had been approved. For shiz and gigs I've been checking my order status randomly. It's still been showing in process and backordered. As of this morning, I received my CSS e-mail. When I went to check my order status, it is no longer backordered. From what I've been reading here, that means I should be getting my phone soon! How exciting!! What the F am I going to do with a second phone?? Even better question...what are they going to charge me for it? I already paid for the one in hand, $199.

I thought it would b brief lol
