I agree. Did Apple quit making them? I haven't even seen any that could even be reserved at my local Apple store in over a week, so they aren't even getting any in. This is much worse than the iPad 2 launch when Chinese scalpers were buying them and shipping them overseas.
Apple recently had to tighten on QC because there were a lot of reports with iPhone 5's having scuff marks coming directly from the factory. I understand it has been a lot wait, but a lot of people would rather have a scuff free phone upon receiving it. I am expecting mine to arrive in the next few days and hopefully it is scuff free.

Best Buy is showing some in stock 30 minutes from me... I might give them a call and see if they are reserved ones only or if they actually have them on sale.
I ordered two 16gb phones at around 6pm EST on 9/21 through the ATT Website. One black, one white.
The black one is off back order and pending shipment. The white one is still back ordered.
Of course, the white one is for me and the black one isn't the one i ordered for myself.

Yeah thats what i am talking about... A lot of Black 16GB's movement. But the white 16GB is stuck
More like 3-4 weeks from what it's sounding like, unless Apple has a large supply ready to go. It's getting really frustrating. I can''t imagine what it's like for those who ordered 9/21 and still are backordered.

Yeah, it's annoying, but at the same time I'm a little relieved. There's really no logic behind it, but it also leads me to believe that maybe the white one isn't too far behind.
It's not fun, that's for sure!
The thing that I keep trying to remind myself is that 14-21 business days isn't 2-3 weeks. It's more like 3-5 weeks. So I'm a little over 3 weeks beyond my order day which means its reasonable for my stuff to start shipping now. I considered cancelling orders and buying from the store, but none of the 7 apple stores within an hour of my house (Boston area), nor any of the AT&T stores have anything in stock. So I'm still waiting (though the black one is off back order as of today finally... still waiting on white).
Well, I guess I've been proven wrong. (Was expecting Oct.19th - 31st shipment), but my 16gig WHT iPhone processed on 9/20 has finally come off of back-order.

If you ordered last week you still have a while! I ordered 2 blk 16gb on 9/22 and they still shows them on back order. I will say though if you ordered a 32gb or a 64gb you should receive it a little quicker. Hopefully things will start picking up here soon.
I ordered a 16gb black on 9/21, got pending shipment on 10/4, went off backorder 10/13, received shipping info and tracking # from UPS around 10am today and hopefully receiving it tomorrow. This will be my last post! I wish you all good luck c: (and don't worry 16gb whites should be coming off backorder this week)

I think some of us need to be more realistic about the timing of these shipments. Of course we want them ASAP, but 14-21 business days is about 3 weeks to a full month. We know the 32 GB's and 64 GB's are moving faster due to its lower demand compared to the 16GB's. Is it fair that we must wait by going through AT&T? Most certainly not. In fact, I think that AT&T should have had way more stock as opposed to Sprint and Verizon since most iPhones have always been with AT&T.
I myself, purchased a white 16GB on 10/8 through an AT&T store. I bought a 4S on 10/6 just to start service because I couldn't find any 5's and when I look back, I should have waited and tried to go through Apple but I didn't know they were getting phones in stock every day. And I didn't want to go through returning the 4S and having to pay another activation charge and all. I'll be looking at about early November for mines hopefully smh lol.
