I ordered a 16 GB Black on 10-01-12 at an AT&T store. Until today this is what my status page looked like. Under shipping status it said "Processing". Now under shipment status it says "Back-Ordered." I have been on back order since the day I ordered it, but now it looks like this (second picture). Is that normal for a 10-01-12? Possibly is my shipment going to be delayed even more?

It says I am on back order but I am talking about the other order status page where I posted above. The shipment status changed from "processing" to "back ordered". I don't know if that's normal for a 10-01-12 order? Tomorrow will be my 15th business day.

Yeah as long as it says 1 under backorder on that linked page you're back ordered. I'm a 32gb on the same day as you and that's what it says for me

Just a word of warning and I'll depart. After much crap just ordering the phone which I won't go into here and then waiting 3 weeks I ultimately cancelled my order. I ordered a black 32 on 9/30 and here's what happened.
I called Customer Service yesterday regarding the email at&t sends out basically stating that if you used a debit card for your order they may charge your card twice, won't be responsible for any fees incurred due to overdraft, and will have to call you to get your card information again, delaying your order. I had seen no pending transaction on my card or anything up to this point so I called to make sure my order wasn't delayed by this and was told that this e-mail was incorrect, and that if I used a debit card when I ordered that what will likely happen is they won't be able to process it and will cancel my order automatically and I will have to order and wait all over again. All I was asked for when I ordered was a card number and this was absolutely never mentioned whatsoever as being a problem of any kind. I spoke to two supervisors on a call that lasted over an hour and ultimately was told we could cross our fingers and hope it goes through, which was unlikely, or I could cancel and have my upgrade back and fight to reserve one at an apple store like everybody else or just re-order. I just sighed completely exhausted and cancelled and I'm considering calling again to complain and terminate my contract, demanding they waive the early termination fee. Three weeks I waited for nothing and now I'm back where I started. Anyway, if you used a debit card, you're completely and totally screwed apparently and there is absolutely nothing they can or will do to help you. Really if you trust AT&T to do anything more complicated than tying a shoe you're completely doomed. Good luck all.

Just checked my order status on ATT, and I noticed that I had a tracking number. has that always been there? I never noticed. When do you think mine will get of BO?
If u have a tracking number it means the phone has shipped.
It hasn't though. It still says that the phone is back ordered and pending shipment.
Hmm. The backorder thing is weird. My phone shipped on friday but is was still showing Processing

I'm thinking we will see movements in our orders on Tuesday or Wednesday. The wait has been long, but in the end it will be worth it. I just hope the phone doesn't have any software issues such as the wifi bug, light leaking, or scratches on the screen itself when it comes in. I can overlook the scuffs and nicks as long as it isn't so bad.
