I went with AT&T. In my area (DC/VA), LTE coverage for both providers is comparable, but AT&T is significantly less expensive. My plan with a 15% FAN discount is as follow:

FamilyTalk Nation 700Min with Rollover ($51)
1st iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($21.25)
2nd iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)
3rd iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)
4th iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)
5th iPhone5 with 2GB Data ($9.99 + $21.25)

Total monthly cost with taxes for 5 iPhones, each with a 2GB Data plan, is about $210. I could add unlimited messaging with unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling on all phones for $30/mo total, if necessary.

When I priced out Verizon, it was about $50 more per month ($600 per year).

I'm with Verizon because it just works better in my area (rural northwest Louisiana). Verizon has solid 3G everywhere, with the occasional drop to 1X between towns. I can't remember the last time I dropped a call. AT&T, on the other hand, only has Edge in my town and adjoining towns. Verizon's LTE network is in cities about 20 miles away so it won't be long until I get LTE. AT&T will more than likely never get LTE here, HSPA+ maybe a few years down the road. AT&T also drops calls so much and their signal is very finicky. Outside my house, AT&T iPhones get 3-4 bars of signal. Inside the house, no service or 1 bar. Oh, and it also helps there's a Verizon tower in my backyard #.

For me it's been a long debate, but Verizon won out. I've been with AT&T since the first iPhone. Here in the Memphis, TN area AT&T's coverage is decent, but once you leave the city it goes down hill. Like my reception in my house has become worse in the past few months.

Reasons AT&T lost my business
1. Fake 4G and not expanding real LTE faster
2. FaceTime policy
3. Easily overloaded service in congested areas
4. No LTE in Memphis till end of year/Spring

Reasons Verizon gained my business
1. LTE in Memphis and my house/small town 20 miles away from Memphis.
2. LTE in all cities we travel frequently.
3. Cheaper share plans for 2x iPhones and 2x iPad 3
4. Free Personal Hotspot
5. No crazy FaceTime policy

100% same reasons for me....even down to the location :). I'm in Olive Branch....

Live in Los Angeles. AT&T signal sucks here. 2 years of AT&T hell since my iPhone 4. My Verizon iPad gets great LTE signal everywhere I go. Verizon here I come!

Currently with AT&T and I weighed the pros and cons before choosing to re-up with them:

AT&T PROS:
>I have the grandfathered unlimited plan
>AT&T is cheaper if I stay with them (in comparing rate plans)
>No hassle of porting over...my contract w/AT&T wasn't up until Nov 8
>Data network is generally faster than VZW
>I can use voice & data simultaneously. Handy for me as I do conf calls for work a lot.

AT&T CONS:
>No LTE here in Cinci yet but is scheduled to be live by EOY
>Poor/spotty voice/data service at home (tolerable however, I rarely use voice & have wifi)
>overall coverage not as good as VZW

In the end, it was the lesser of 2 evils. I really did want to switch to VZW but it just didn't make good sense.

I had AT&T ever since the original iPhone. I have had horribly spotty service, so many dropped calls, horrible customer service, and I have switched to Verizon for i5. My buddy with a Verizon 4S seems to be quite pleased with his coverage

Verizon has overall better coverage in the area, though AT&T did finally put in 3G last year. Niether currently have LTE. Verizon has LTE about ten miles outside of town. AT&T's closes is around 90 miles so I think my chances of getting LTE sooner are better with Verizon so I stuck with them.

Only crappy thing is back home Verizon is horrible and AT&T is great. I spend most of my vacations there so it would be nice to have one provider with coverage in both places.

I went with AT&T since they were the only one who offered iphone 4 at the time. big mistake: picking phone over network.

Here is why AT&T is horrible (in Charlotte, nc)
- phone signal is dead inside many buildings I have been to, especially my office. I have to turn on airplane mode every day I got in the office building.
- when signal is good in crowded building, like airport, the network is overloaded and internet won't work.

Initially I like AT&T because:
- GSM and Sim card but I don't travel out of U.S to even use this feature
- simultaneously voice and data. but in practice I don't even remember when I actually use this feature
- unlimited 3G (or now 5GB 4G). but signal is so bad that I don't even use 1GB per month.

it all comes down to signal, no matter what features/prices a network offers.

The ATT network seems to have improved but, I switched to Verizon because outside of the metropolitan areas in the SE my wife's Verizon phone would always work while I had no signal with ATT. Plus ATT always rates as the worst customer service among all carriers.

- But I sure am bummed to find out you can't talk and surf on Verizon with 5.

On my side of Ohio, Verizon was spotty, so I went with Verizon with the IP4. Very happy, great service. Cheaper. No reason to change.

I was with Verizon before the iPhone. I miss their coverage - it's much better than AT&Ts where I live, and at work, Verizon provides the phone and pager service for the hospital so their coverage is fantastic. However, AT&T has improved enough over the years that I'm OK sticking with them for a bit longer. I had planned to move back to Verizon with the iPhone 5 launch until I found out that you still can't do simultaneous voice and data. That was a deal-breaker for me.

SVD is like electricity: you never notice it until it's gone.

i use it all the time, and would definitely notice if it was gone, So for me that's a huge reason to stay with AT&T.

Second reason: price. AT&T is easily $!5 a month cheaper, and that's before the corporate discount I get.

I'm in an area where AT&T and Verizon coverage is equally good, so that's not an issue for me. in my travels there was maybe one area I've been to where AT&T's coverage was bad, but my coworkers on Verizon tell similar stories, so it evens out.

AT&T customer service has been WONDERFUL for me over the years with both wireless and in particular uverse. They have regularly found me discounts and applied new customer specials for me. Besides helping me with discounts when I ran into some hard times a couple years back, the CSRs I've spoken with have always been incredibly kind to me. I considered a move to sprint but ultimately stayed; a great deal of my choice being my experiences with the company.

If you have no signal you can do neither. ;-) Talk and surf will be there soon enough. I'm no VZW fanboy I'm switching too for signal reasons in areas we visit or travel.
