I have been tempted to switch to Verizon many times but their price for two iPhones on a family plan is just way too expensive. FYI I'm currently paying $106.89 a month for 2 iPhones. I have 2gb for data while my wife has 200 MB. We also both have 200 text messages at $5 each to keep in touch for those that despise iPhones in general. Since we're both always on a Wi-Fi connection the small data plan hasn't been an issue for either of us.

We've been with AT&T since the Cingular days and have never had coverage issues where we needed them. We also travel internationally every so often and they work well for us with that to. We have LTE where we are so don't see any reason to change right now. Also like that they will at least do early upgrades. We consider switching every year but there hasn't been a good reason to yet.

Better coverage where I am and I am on a family plan with Verizon so I only have to pay my parents like $40 a month, much less then if I where to switch to AT&T and do an individual plan.

I have a iPhone 4 on AT&T but ordered the 5 on Verizon. My reception has been on a steady decline where I live, plus Verizon offers LTE in my area. Didn't have unlimited and only use about 1GB per month.

Only thing I'll miss is my very rare use of simultaneous voice/data. However, Verizon stated over the summer that they plan on turning on voice over LTE nationwide in the beginning of 2013.

I use both, so as to expand the number of phones to choose from.

AT&T has slightly better coverage, and much better connectivity.

In addition I get the best pricing, annual upgrades, unlimited data, voice & text.

Terrific customer service, and a long track record of consistency, keep me very satisfied.

This is why I'm switching from Verizon back to AT&T:

Verizon has had LTE where I live for going on a year now. Unfortunately, they only seem to have it on 60% of their towers, so their LTE coverage here is NOWHERE near as good as their voice/3G coverage is. The photo above is from my Verizon LTE iPad -- 1 bar of LTE signal. My Verizon iPhone 4s, at the same location, has 4 bars of signal. That's how inconsistent their LTE signal strength can be compared to their other network.

If you're near a tower here that has LTE and are getting 3+ bars, their LTE here is great, 5-15 mbps. However, if you're in one of the many areas between LTE towers and get 1-2 bars (which isn't uncommon), the speed drops dramatically, to where AT&T's 4G network here can be 2-3x faster.

For me, there are wayyyy too many of these slow areas for me to consider doing an LTE phone with Verizon. I figure I'll give them this year to come back and finish putting LTE on ALL of their towers here, and decrease those gaps, and then I'll reassess next year. However, I'm not a fan of them only having "Share Everything" plans (which are more expensive, for less, the way I use my phone), so I doubt I'll go with them next year anyway.

It was really surprising to me to see Verizon's LTE network here in this condition, a year after they turned it on and started advertising it as the fastest network around.

This is mine right now.

Sticking with AT&T because they have HSPA+ in my area and I can stay grandfathered into 200M for the wifey. I don't think LTE from either AT&T or Verizion will arrive in my area for a long time.

AT&T didn't have reception at my house back in the day, and had a ****** network overall in my area. Verizon has been solid ever since we switched. Never looked back.

I've never really had much of an issue with AT&T. I've been with them for awhile now (about 6 years). I love the talk/surf feature. I didn't think I'd need it that much, but I'm always texting and looking stuff up when I'm on the phone with someone.

Additionally, AT&T is cheaper for me than Verizon.
This. The day I can talk and surf (or in my case: talk and give map directions, Talk, and receive and commend on an email....) I'll consider the switch.

Plan prices are about the same for me.

Coverage is slightly better with Verizon.

But talk/surf is the main selling point for me with AT&T

Had AT&T in the midwest and the coverage was great. Moved to the southwest last year and the coverage is not great in our city or surrounding areas, and no LTE. Verizon however has LTE and great coverage, my husband switched a few months ago with a galaxy nexus and I just preordered the iP5 on Verizon.

This is mine right now.
Yeah, if I go a mile or two up the road, I can get 30mbps down (or at least high 20s).

Just amazes me that going two miles the other way, their LTE service goes from 5 bars down to 1 bar, and the LTE speed drops to less than 2mbps. In the exact same spot, their voice/3G network has 4 bars. What a difference between implementation!

This is in the largest market in the state of VA. I'm hoping their service in this market is a fluke, and they're not just rolling into other markets, throwing up what seems like the least amount of LTE towers as possible, updating their map with yet "another market with LTE", and then quickly moving on to the next market.

I have no doubt that they'll come back and "fill in the gaps" here, but there are just too many now.

I'm glad your market is better!

I get a 20% discount for vzw. And I can't change to att because I have 2 lines with unlimited data. They are both the same just depends on your area.

I've been with AT&T since the iPhone 1. I have never had a problem with coverage or customer service. I also go overseas quite a bit, so Verizon is a no go.

I debated this quite a bit. We've been with AT&T since the original iPhone, longer actually. Verizon has LTE in my area, I'm not sure if AT&T has LTE anywhere in Oregon.

I use my phone mostly at work. That's where I need faster Internet service. There are several iPhones and androids out here. I've played with them all at one time or another. We've done speed test after speed test. My AT&T iPhone 4 can manage around 4mbs on 3G. My buddies Verizon iPhone 4S gets around 1.1mbs on 3G. It's pretty pathetic.

So, even though there are spots in Oregon that have Verizon LTE, I would be using my iPhone 5 mostly at work where I would be stuck with slow 3G service, and spotty at that.

It's all about coverage where you utilize your device.

Plus, I actually do like talking and surfing.

AT&T ALL THE WAY!

AT&T has 3G with HSPA+ almost everywhere I am. LTE in the larger cities. Verizon.. LTE where I live, but outside of that the coverage is horrid. From Alexandria, La to Leesville La (Fort Polk) NO SERVICE ( not a single tower for 25 plus miles) can't even roam off Sprint as they have no towers either.

If I stayed at home and never went outside my local area having LTE would be great on Verizon, unfortunately for Verizon I live in the real world.

The other thing is I have no issues with AT&T, they provide ROCK SOLID coverage and great service!

I have 4 lines with 4 different contract end dates. I also opened my account when ATT was the only carrier with the iPhone. I also constantly use data and voice simultaneously, and Phoenix is covered by LTE from both carriers. If I was starting fresh, it would be a tough decision, but I would probably go with Verizon and get on the shared data wagon.

I've had AT&T since it was Cingular and was never able to get reception in my house, or within a 1mile radius of my house. So after a few years of this, my family just wouldn't stand it anymore  So we switched to Verizon. Perfect reception. I moved two hours away for school, and my apartment also doesn't get reception from AT&T (which my boyfriend has) but does from Verizon. I'd say Verizon was definitely the way to go. :D

Care to explain why? I am just going by reports from other users and websites that did speed tests. What is your experience and where in NYC are you?

I've been in NYC with my friend who has the S3 on AT&T and me on my other phone, the Rezound and we have done speed tests. Mine continuously came in about 4-5 times more then his, I average between 10-12

1. 20% work discount on my bill. bill usually is $230-ish
2. 4 lines with iPhones
3. all lines have "unlimited" data.
4. unlimited mobile to mobile calling
5. great LTE coverage where I live and in my favorite vacation spot(Vegas)
6. voice and data at the same time.

Verizon has WAY better coverage in my area, west Texas. We just got LTE as well, even in some really small towns. I can drive 20 minutes and be on edge with AT&T.

AT&T has much better coverage in Texas where Verizon has no signals. And that is mostly west Texas. I tried Verizon and since I live in Texas and drove to many other cities and towns, Verizon had no service in many areas. Actually most areas where AT&T had signals.
