I came from Verizon and I live in the very populated Hampton Roads area of Virginia. AT&T coverage is not nearly as good as Verizon. More bars in more places by butt!

I'm sending feedback to Apple and AT&T. I love my iPhone but it sucks to have 1 little bar in my house now when I had full coverage with Verizon anywhere and everywhere I went.

I'm in almost the same situation. I'm in Northern Virginia, switched from Verizon which I had no problem with and am now getting 1-2 bars with my 3g iphone. Hopefully it will get better over time, but once my fiance gets hers (the benefits of getting a 16gb white) I may do some experiments and then eventually contact both apple and AT&T.

I'm in DC for a conference this week, staying in a hotel right next to the National Zoo.

Coming from Va Beach, I'm used to crappy AT&T service and spectacular VZW.

At my hotel, everyone's VZW BlackBerrys are switching between 1 bar of 1X (nobody's getting any of VZW's 3G 1XEV coverage at all) and "NO SIGNAL", whereas the iPhones are 1-3 bars of 3G, or full bars of EDGE.

Weird to be trapped in a place for a week that has excellent AT&T coverage and pretty much zero VZW coverage.

in my house my 3g bars are low on my iphone, i was like oh, this sucks. i grab my dads 3g sony erikson, he also has low bars in the house... hmm att sucks not my iphone. and i become happy again.

Some cities are having just fine 3G speeds while others in select cities are in fact getting terrible 3G speeds

I am curious if the problems are the 3G towers or what as it does seem to be located around select areas

all i know is that the person that i replied to was suggesting this was an at&t problem only. it's not. at&t aren't even in australia, japan, europe and the problems are being reported there as well.

maybe the carriers share some hardware thats an issue, i'm not an engineer.

but to say it's an at&t issue only is definetly wrong.

Well, like I said, if it is a tower problem near some cities, whose fault is that? I really don't know.....

But, I do find it odd that some big city 3G networks are terrible while others are speeding

It's like deja vu all over again. As we all well know, the iPhone 3G was an epic failure, too.

;)
