Where is the empirical evidence that the spots under glass are in fact "dust". Anyone tear apart the display layers and collet and analyze any of this "dust"? Last time I checked my phone there was no fan sucking in outside air. Maybe this is special dust that walks on inside. Or maybe it is something else happening with like the adhesive between layers. My speculations are as valid as the next person's speculation sans actual tests.

So when I ask for evidence of your claims, the best response you can give is to ask me for mine? Sure "proves" a lot...

I haven't opened up that particular display, but I know it's not a delamination problem. Unless you work for Apple, LG Display, Sharp, or AUO, I will assume I have closer knowledge of the display module's designs than you do.

Well, I am.

If there is dust between the backlight unit and the LCD panel, it will show only when the screen is turned on. It will NOT be visible when the screen is turned off. Also, as it's behind the color filter (since the "dust" is before the LCD, it will not have a color, and be black or an another shade of gray.

Where are your credentials or evidence to back your claims?

By your logic, a car so expensive as a BMW or a Mercedes should never have any defects because they are exorbitantly priced.

Those cars have more problems per thousand than Toyotas and Hondas, and yet people still adore them.

You can be upset with Apple all you want. The fact is, they have better customer service than any other cellphone manufacturer, and that is a huge factor in how people determine the brand's quality.

They do adore their cars, but they also get more annoyed when things go wrong with them, which is more often as you've pointed out, because they are expensive.

It sure looks like dust. My replacement is getting worse and worse..
So you are in some super dusty environments? Is there a vacuum inside the phone sucking in air mixed with dust? Are you finding the outside of your phone covered in dust?

It seems highly unlikely that so much dust is finding it's way snide the phone and between the layers of the display. While I am not disputing that it appears to you as dust, I cannot perceive the physical mechanism that is injecting this dust between display layers.

The phone does not contain a fan, like a laptop that forces air through it. I think it is far more likely that there is some sort of reaction taking place between the layers that appears as dust. Only tearing a display apart would be conclusive. If it is truelly dust, the phone should be loaded with it on the inside.

Why not put a piece of tape over the opening you believe is allowing so much dust inside. If the dust keeps getting more and more after that I submit it is not in fact dust.

I have to attest to this, as well. Got a new 128GB gold 6S+ a couple weeks ago, screen seemed perfect, then a week later, I noticed some dark/greyish dots on the upper left corner, right under the first signal dot, under the third, and another one on top of the AT&T logo.

Exchanged it no problems, got a brand new one. I carefully inspected it at boot time (when the screen is all white), and had no dots on the screen. A few days later, now again I have a darkish dot in the upper left corner.

Something tells me that there's some kind of defect with the 3d touch screen like others said, adhesive related, not sure. I'm just going to live with it, as it's only noticeable when using a white background on the top part.

Still, little disappointed, my 6Plus had a flawless screen,

My 6 plus screen was flawless too and better quality imo dust aside

But 6s plus I have isn't bad and jail broken on 9.0.2 :)

Just noticed one small speck of dust after 6 months. It definitely wasn't there when I first checked it a few months ago.

Does getting the screen replaced help? Or should I just live with it?

i do know if you're one of those people who constantly replace their phones over and over and over again at the genius bar, after a while you'll get blacklisted and apple wont replace that model again, because your phone is working correctly and you're coming in because you stare at your phone to notice something thats either not their, you have bad eyes, or you're nitpicking and ocd

I havent replaced this even once. Thanks for your very helpful reply. I have bad eyes thats why I am seeing specks of dust under my screen?

6 plus speaker wasn't amazing either but still sounded better than 6s plus's speaker imo

First generatiom where something has gone downhill across the board (not just manufacture variation)

Oh well

People like you should be banned from ever exchanging their phone. Just like those fishing for TSMC chip. The OCD is unreal
i got my iphone replaced 4 times from various issues

get them to replace screen

3 months left of warranty and no jailbreak in sight.

I feel like I'll either have my dust corner 6s plus for keeps or swap right before warranty's up flip it and wait on iPhone 7 stock until next jb if there is.

But if there's no headphone jack or great benefits to next gem I seriously may stay put

Just stinks it will affect resell value if I sell it after 7 release and jailbreak so I have to make a decision later this year.

Might keep it regardless I hate being without jailbreak for any length of time on my phone. Done it before it was painful for my uses

I am not sure how to deal with this issue. I feel like getting the phone exchanged is only going to lead me to get a replacement with more issues.

That would be a fear of mine too

I've had a significantly dimmer display than current one and it's no fun at all dust or not

I had one with a few small flecks of dust/debris, most of which I was able to get to move towards the side by tapping the phone's corner against a slightly padded, but firm surface.

That being said, I still ended up replacing it later on. Current one so far shows no signs of it, despite actually being an earlier production model. Knock on wood, but at least Apple replaces issue screens without much fuss.

Could always check iOS version prior to buying one used - you never know, some people aren't on top of updating.

Too much buy/sell swap hassle for a phone I've had for 9 months or so now. And too many variables as previously mentioned like screen brightness, battery life, I'm sure the list goes on and on.

Appreciate it though !

Any one else get a recently replaced device and had for a month+ that can chime in?

The fact that the thread's relatively dead might mean it's either relatively resolved or people just stopped caring perhaps?

Most likely the 28 people out of millions have it stopped talking about it.

Lol fair. I think there's definitely units without it but lots of people probably have it and don't even notice it. Saw it faintly on my buddy's 6s

Have this issue on my Silver 128 6S Plus. Was perfect up until a few months ago I started noticing a "shadow" up near my signal dots. Kept getting darker. Threw up the brightness and put on a white screen. Low and behold, dust. I used some compressed air and some firm banging against my hand and steering wheel (it's padded). It cleared up most of it. Decided its not worth replacing this far out. May get something with another problem.

If it gets any worse I will swap it out. I will probably swap it before the iPhone 7 just to get a new/refurbished one.
