Holding up great, no grease marks or other marks...but we will see after I work out in the garden.

It's funny, I would hate to work at apple store the next few months, iphone users are so fussy and use cases. So the smallest mark can freak them out.

These are watches, SS watches all get scratches, and bands especially get marked up, all the bands will show some wear, it's all good;)

But I'm feeling these space grey models may really show the wear, so I might just stick with the regular sport version.

This is why I went for the white one in the end. Bad memories of my iPhone 5 looking like crap as the black coating slowly chipped away.

I have a feeling it's because of the lightness of it. It being so much lighter than the white one means it uses a less dense, more porous material. That is if it's grease. Can you get it out with a mr. clean magic eraser? I can't tell if it's grease accumulating or the material wearing.

Just tried with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, nothing happened :/ It's still like that..

I have a good mind to take a knife and scuff up the aluminum and the band and then just not give a hoot. ;) A good way to break in my new Benchmade Griptilian.

Use a degreaser... Maybe skin oil?

I don't have mine yet but here's a pic of my Fitbit Charge for comparison.

Hey everyone, just wanted to know if you were having the same problem I'm having with my Space Grey Watch. The black band seems to be having grease marks or scuffs that can't come off. Attached are some pictures. Are you guys having the same issue?

Yes exactly the same. However, the scuff marks are on the back of the band, at the point that the two pieces meet, so no big deal as they are not visible when wearing the watch.

I attended an Apple Watch Basics class last night in Pasadena. The Apple Store employee told us that they discovered that the white Sport Bands have a coating on them and should only be cleaned with water. They discovered this when they attempted to clean the band with LCD screen cleaner which completely removed the coating making the band even harder to clean afterwards.

YMMV with the black SB of course.

Looks like the matte finish, whatever it is (texturing? coating?) is burnishing.

Apple will make it right. Let them know it's happening and ask them to send you a new band.

You must be a greasy dude. Get Apple to replace the band, the sooner you reach out the better and sooner you'll get a replacement band.

Strong case in the reason we're barely seeing any BSB floating around. It could just have been a huge bad batch because the ones in store look fine and I'm sure they've seen heavy traffic.

Just wait until the leather bands are in the wild. People are going to freak out. Leather will wear. For some it will add charm, for others it will be a four alarm fire.

My Midnight Blue iPad Air 2 and 6 Plus cases have aged to perfection. Honestly, I like the way Apple's darker leathers wear in.

Regarding the band issue, its started on mine but it's on the inside of the band where the bottom tucks into the top. Not a huge deal. I expected this from a black band. If it gets bad I'll get it replaced. Otherwise, the Watch is amazing.

I have this too on both sides of the strap - have had the watch on for about 24 hours now. Pretty bad on the pin part, it has "engraved" a circular shape where the next closest hole is to the pin.

I can't remember which site it was (iMore?) but I recently saw a document made for Apple Store employees that showed what is considered acceptable wear for the bands, and they did mention some discoloration on the sport bands. However, I got the impression that this was something that was to be expected after months of use -- not on the first day!

Definitely noticed this on my SG after a day's use. I think the glossy coating of the band makes the parts where it rubs against itself look like that. I haven't seen that in the white band which makes sense.
Any green/blue band owners?

I don't think it's an issue at all. I would have bought the link band if I did, but mine is showing wear as well.

It reminds me of the type of wear the black MacBooks used to show. Like when you clean something too hard and make it shiny.

I personally find it acceptable on a rubber watch.

Ok this isn't mine... But this is a big problem. Probably the cause of the delay...

How is that kind of damage done in one day. That looks like a chemical got on it or it was intentionally scratched up.
