I'm getting pissed. The new Star Trek on Netflix is just in HD (not even 4k) on ATV 4K and HDR on my native Samsung App.

You need to subscribe to Netflix's highest paid tier to get 4k content.
Is it supposed to be streaming in 4K or are you ASSUMING? When last I looked the CBS App only streams in HD. Just because you have an ATV 4K doesn't mean all the apps will be streaming in 4k. 99% of them don't. The only ones that I know of that stream in 4k are Netflix and Vimeo. At some point, soon, I hope, this will slowly change.

Technically it is not a Netflix original (It is produced by CBS).
It is exclusive to Netflix in 188 countries though.
Indeed, except netflix threw so much money at them, that they almost paid for the whole production
I'm not sure it's actually available in 4K: It doesn't show under the 4K section on my Sony TV (other shows such as Breaking Bad do) and the info for the show only shows HDR, not Ultra HD 4K like 4K shows do.
It also only plays in HD, not 4K

In Canada, we only get the show on CraveTV which doesn't support 4K anyway.
i contacted Netflix and they managed to make DV (HD + DV ???) icon appear and they asked me to reproduce the content. then they told me that i was actually streaming in HDR but nothing was changed on the ATV, was still HD SDR. Settings are 4K HDR 60Hz 4:2:2. So, the problem is the ATV. 200€ for nothing!

On the native app is just HDR. On ATV after contacting Netflix came up the DV icon among the HD.

right, at least HDR i see only DV icons. Sometimes are there and sometimes just Ultra 4k or just HD for the same content like this case.
Hell bells. I retract my comment. Always thought HDR on Netflix was 4K? It is showing 1080. Humblest apologies for confusion, I shall edit my post.
Just bought Alien Covenant 4k HDR on iTunes. When it starts in the drop down it says it is just HD. Enough.
Get a refund so you haven't wasted your money on that pile of nonsense.
Must be something else in your setup acting up. Granted I have gigabit, but 100 should be plenty fast. I have watched a few movies with no trouble, in 4k/HDR 60.
I have no problems at all with all other streaming devices on hdmi, native apps or mobiles. I stream 4k HDR stuff daily.

Sure, but not from iTunes. I am not saying you're doing anything wrong, but something about your setup and the AppleTV is not happy, obviously.
Go into Settings, then Apps, then iTunes Films and TV Programs and make sure Quick Start is enabled as others have found that fixes the issue.
