Mine does :D
Great just bought one! Works with Mac to so was hoping it would also work with OpenEmu as well.

Tried playing games on aTV4 but difficult with the Siri remote, especially the emulator so was hoping this would make it worthwhile...

Is it a decent controller? Work well? Downloaded the app to and see can get firmware updates - great idea that so hopefully should work well even if tvOS gets updated etc

Thanks

It's been fine for the stuff I've played, but then I'm not a hard core gamer and don't really have anything to compare against.

That's me to! Used to be in the "old" days, just great to see them again. Couldn't use the Siri remote though for those so it's justified for that. Plus on the Mac OpenEmu is great for extra emulators as well.

I need some help. I installed provenance and some games and everything worked fined. I didn't use it for about a month and now every time I open it I can see the list of games but I can't do anything. I updated to the latest version and that did not help. Any suggestions?

Have you tried restarting the ATV?

Retroarch is being ported to the atv in the next update 1.4 Supposedly :)

Yeah I'm looking forward to this, it's a permanent fixture on my iPhone and it's amazing just how many systems are emulated very well on iPhone so when it's released for atv it's an instant install.

Sounds to me like maybe you overfilled the atv and it started deleting the old stuff. You might need to send those roms again to the app.

How hard is this to sideload? I had never heard of it so in looking it up some descriptions made it sound like it required a lot of knowledge and/or time to get running.

I really hope somebody here has had the same problems loading Provenance that I've had.

I'm using the current (1.2.6) version.

I'm using the "free" developer account (my Apple ID).

I've selected "ProvenanceTV-Release" and selected my Apple TV - yes, the computer recognizes that it's plugged in.

I've changed the bundle identifier for Provenance, ProvenanceTV, and TopShelf numerous times, and in various combinations, with no luck.

When I try to build, I get the exact same error every single time: "Failed to code sign "TopShelf". No provisioning profiles with a valid signing identity (i.e. certificate and private key pair) matching the platform "tvOS" were found. Xcode can attempt to fix this issue. This will reset your code signing and provisioning settings to recommended values and resolve issues with signing identities and provisioning profiles."

I then click "Fix Issue." Then, every single time, this comes up:

"No Devices Registered. Creating a provisioning profile requires one or more devices to be registered with your team. Connect a device to your Mac and add it to your team."

Like I said, the ATV is plugged in, and Xcode recognizes it.

Any ideas? This is really frustrating.

Did you change the ID of top shelf in the file too

Follow this guide

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did.

Interesting. Following those instructions, I first selected the TopShelf target, clicked Capabilities, and enabled App Groups. I created a new App Group, added my unique identifier (from the bundle ID) to the end of it, so the App Group was called "group.xxxxxx." I then enabled that app group by clicking the checkbox. This gave me some new warnings:

Clicking "Fix Issues" here does not resolve those two errors. I then went to the ProvenanceTV target and enabled App Groups, and the same "group.xxxxxx" appeared. I checked it. Got basically the same two errors:

The instructions also say to define the value for PVAppGroupId in PVAppConstants.m to that App Group ID. It was easy enough to find "PVAppConstants.m" and make that change (the value was previously blank).

It's worth noting that I tried building at the end of each of these steps, and I got the exact same error as before, no changes at all. I'm absolutely stumped.

It might be worth pointing out that if I choose AppleTV 1080p under tvOS Simulator, instead of my actual Apple TV, it compiles just fine. It only fails when I select my Apple TV.

It's actually pretty straightforward, you install retroarch just as you would provenance. The only difference is you download the latest cores, which are the actual emulators, from their website and sign each one individually using terminal on your Mac. For that all you need is your developer key information which you can get from the keychain app. Then transfer them to your iPhone/iPad.

I can pop up a step by step when I get back in front of my computer if you like.
