Not if you're a troll or flammer, but has an iPad onscreen keyboard, which the apple tv has not only has a keyboard that is operated with touch control on which to write a sentence takes you a while.

true... I type pretty fast. on a real keyboard, I type about 85wpm.(back in high school, the *only* subject that I did well was typing class... on actual typewriters!)

I may be an old geezer, but I can't type faster than 20 to 25 wpm on my iPad and I usually have to look at the keyboard.

This is all a moo point now. (moo not moot) My ATV4 just died this morning and wouldn't power up no matter what I tried. Going to Best Buy this afternoon to exchange it. :( I guess since I'm exchanging it anyway, I might as well go with the 64gb this time.

I swear I remember a time when Apple products 'just worked', even on day 1, without fanboys vehemently defending subpar performance with excuses of 'just wait it out bro'.

Still can't search YouTube.

The Apple TV4 comes with a nice looking remote though. That's probably the nicest thing I have to say about my experience thus far. But hey, as long as Apple stock prices keep going up, that seems to be all that matters. The woman at the Apple Store said because I bought it after Nov 1st, holiday return policy is in effect so I have until January to return it. No idea if that's right, but I may return it anyway.

Good call. I did the same. Will re-buy down the road if they fix a bunch of things and definitely if it gets jailbroken. Otherwise the ATV3 is fine for my needs.

I'm in my car outside of the Best Buy right now.
Just returned the dead 32gb ATV4 and picked up
a 64gb ATV4 instead.

The guy doing returns told me they got quiet a
few returned ATV4s in the last few days. (at least
a dozen, counting the one I just returned)

I'm going to give it another try, but something
tells me I'll end up returning this one as well.
At least I have a few more days to cancel the
eBay auction for my four old ATV3s. :)

Ah, same here! And we didn't had the luxury of electric typewriters, stuck with mechanical ones. On top of trying to type fast, you had to do it in a way that didn't cause the hammers to constantly jam together

I'm thinking about it. I initially got the 32gb for dev purpose only, but I ended up loving it much more than I expected, enough to replace my good old Roku. But with the current App size limits, I'm still not sure how useful a 64gb is. I'm gonna wait and see on that one...

I find it most curious that Apple doesn't offer some way for me to see how much storage space is left on my 32gb ATV4.

Then again, it's probably the same logic that made them delete Bluetooth keyboard support on the ATV4? :(

I have paired up an old ATV 3 remote to my ATV 4. Apart from the fact that you get the old square type keyboard back, I find that the "click mechanism is a lot more accurate than the new remote's touch pad.

Happy days.

No, and what's worse is that not only did we go backwards on lack of speech-to-text but as an added bonus, the new keyboard layout is one horizontal row which takes forever to type anything as you have to to all the way left and all the way right too often.

For a company like Apple to introduce a remote with a microphone and then prohibit it from working in search boxes and then to make the keyboard as un-friendly as it is, wow, just wow. The new ATV is a terrific machine, but boy oh boy does this functionality become the killjoy.

You can tap on the top, left, bottom or right of the new remote and it acts just like the discrete buttons on the old remote. You don't have to swipe unless you want to.

Thanks, but I just find the old remote, and square keyboard more user friendly, familiar, and comfortable. Just personal preference. Works for me.
Will maybe give the new remote another try once Apple iron out some of the kinks.

I tried to do that with my Siri remote and it doesn't do that.... ???

I find it faster to search for videos in the YouTube app on my iPhone/iPad and then just airplay it to the AppleTV.

Agreed. Just do this. Works just as well as a Bluetooth keyboard solution if not better. AirPlay performance is much better on the ATV4 which really helps.
