First Tiger desktop! Whoa!
Why when I minimize an app and I look at it in the dock the icon is super lo res? like when you look at the minized window.

Am I the only person here who leaves the default Apple desktop on? I just can't seem to find one that looks better than the regular Apple desktop.
I like it too, but sometimes I get bored of the same desktop.

i agree with what tag said.

plus just so you know, unless the original is different or unless you specify, photoshop will save your files at 72 pixels per inch by default. (you need to know this if you ever want to print somethng you photoshopped) if you go to size image, click off the check mark for "resample image" (you don't want it to physically resize the picture at this point) and get it to about 300 pixels per inch. the numbers in the upper boxes for the image size will change - that will be your "print size" - so if you have a large picture and you want to print it at 5x7" change the inches but make sure it does not resample the image... this will give you the max resolution (pixels per inch) and the picture will be more crisp.
this rule of thumb also works for keeping quality images just for desktop or web use.

when you go to save, be sure you save at a decent quality or it will degrade the image as well. you can also fiddle with your compression settings but that is a whole other story.

hope that helps

I did it in photoshop.... will have to try and see what happens.

Nice gingko leaves.
Link please?

Macmumm has loads of cool pics on his site but they are low resolution. The leaves one is awesome! I'd love to get a better quality version of it.

I sometimes go back to the default Aqua or Abstract desktops. They still look good.

AMD64, PBG4

Decided to change both my desktops today...

I love that first one (the space one). Any chance for a link to that desktops background?

Couldn't find the links so i stuck them on my .Mac account. The orange one from my earlier post is on there too.

Most of them are from Spymac or Airliners.net

large preview for 30" ACD
That is one awsome desktop and picture. I am always on the look out for really good San Francisco ones with the Golden Gate Bridge in, any chance for a link to the image file?

Thanks

holy shhh..crap! [coo-coo clock sounds in background]

but do you have a link to that background is what i really wanna know?! that is really funny! (what in the world is that?) love it!

Awhile ago there was a G5 wallpaper that was the default Tiger wallpaper but it was more transparent which you could see the G5 symbol in the bottom left maybe.... do any of you have a link to that wallpaper?

sorry for not responding right away, had a nasty, long day at work. Thanks for the compliments on my desktop picture, *blushes* I am not used to being noticed in any way at MR, being an inconsequential, non-existant newbish poster (still under 100 posts).

My dock is a little insane isn't it, it clearly illustrates the depth of my dementia/fetish for software. Believe it or not I use most of my little appies (they cost me a small fortune), I am a web/pre-press print designer by day and geek by night.

if anyone still wants it, here is a link to the high-res version of my desktop pic.

highres, you have 4 web browsers in your dock. why?

I actually have 7 different browsers, when I build websites, etc. I test how all my pages (style sheets, checkout baskets, etc.) preview in the different browsers, some things work in some but not in others. It can be a real pain, someday there will be one clean standard for all browsers I hope. I also *shudders* have to test web page load times on a PC with a 56k dial up connect as that is what many comp users have, broadband has still not hit many homes, they still represent a big slice of the pie.
