The previous thread was not deleted. It can be read here. But because it had become so filled with "chat-style" posts, the moderators gave up trying to keep it on track and moved it to the Wasteland forum, where posts don't count but the thread is left visible. That's standard policy.

I second AppleMatt389's request to keep this thread on topic so the moderators won't receive complaints or have to get involved again. I hope it will be a discussion, not a substitute for IMs. If there are other "Aussie" topics worth discussing, start new threads for them. Anyone with questions about the old thread can send me a Private Message and I'll be glad to answer, so we don't take this thread off topic ourselves!

how much did you pay for the phone? was it ebay? even in the US ebay iPhones go for well over USD$399. Does anything not work that should if it was on AT&T (other than visual voicemail)?
 
Hey everyone, good to see the thread up and going again.

Touch is going great.

Just letting all the other brisbanites know that there looks to be a new Apple Reseller in at Toombul Music in the Toombul Shopping centrre, near the airport, looks to be only just starting up but seems to have grown just over the last couple of days.
 
Hi guys - good to see another aussie thread up and running :)

So has anyone seen any good cases locally yet? Despite treating my touch as softly soft as possible, the back is still getting more scratches than I'd like:(

Went to the mymac store on flinders street to see leopard and to show off my hacked touch. and there was A HUGE que. there was a dude with an iPhone on optus FULL WORKING - visual voice mail. and he asked me to take a photo of him and Guy Sebastian, so i very willingly did. I then told Guy that out of him and the iPhone, that the iPhone was cooler (HAHAHAHA, that is somthing that you might see on MTV in an interveiw) i then played with the iPhone and showed him my touch v1.1.1 because he had not updated his iPhone. What i did like is with the iPhone is the icons scroll down and not side to side like the touch. so all in all i had a SWEET day.

ps, Guy looked like such a gimp, he had an orange zip pully as an earing HA. he was getting a new power cord for a MacBook/Pro. so he has a mac. :D
 
as it turns out a employee from the mymac store goes to my brothers college is my elder brother so he will give me a discount on lots of stuff. :) i like him even more
 
lol...don't know him unfourtunately...there are 15k people at unimelb

and how did the iPhone look compared to the Touch...fat, same, bigger e.t.c.

*p.s. i just installed leopard a few hours ago...it's awesome...spaces is like expose all over again...the finder and quicklook are lightening fast and time machine is backing up as i type
one downside is that my copy of cs3 isn't working:(
 
the iPhone has a bigger home button, the arial (black bit on bottom back) is ugly, and tacky.
Feels SOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer in hand than the touch due to its width and its more rounded edges.

mmmmmm toasted leopard for breakfast on monday:D

I thinking about doing that, but i'm scared that when they release software apps for it, that i will not be uble to update it and when the do release it in australia, by that time it might already be 16GB.

Unless of course when they release updates you can hack them into your unlocked iPhone, do you reckon this will be possible?
 
im gonna be leaving u guys behind soon and moving on up yo the iPhone fourms. a Dude at my lawn bowls club got an iPhone from the US on ebay, he got screwed round by the USPS so the dude he got it from will give him a good deal on a second one for me!

ps. he was on virgin, no apps working on phone network only wifi:mad:

edit- looks like both pics are down.
both were recepts from jbhifi for the mentioned price.

The reason they are $70 cheaper is because Target advertised online at the wrong price, however they fixed it in a few days.
So some ppl in whirlpool, me included got jbhifi to price match it. So if anyone wants links to the recepts, please request them, and ill be happy to post them.
 
Funny thing today (well at least for us melbournians)

I caught the tram from melbourne uni to melbourne central this evening and was looking at my wifi detected list on the Touch.

at times there were 40-50 different wifi signals coming through (all of them locked)...but when i got to the city, i picked up a strong signal called telstrafreeCBD...i turned it on and it turns out that if you're a telstra customer or something, you get free wifi in the city

anyone else know of this?

Hahahahaha, made my day. I was born and spawned in bay 13 and through guts and hard work...

Gonna be a huge shame when they finish in a week and a half.

Meanwhile back to the thread, I've seen a few more touches around, which is always nice. Makes me feel less special though.
