Autocorrect was one of the things that pushed me away from iPhone. It had always seemed counter productive to me (unless it's changed) that when a suggestion pops up you have to tell it you DON'T want it rather than you do.

Sometimes I have this problem cause I use 3 languages, I wish swiftkey works on iOS like it does on android :) it can automatically recognize the language you are typing ! It's soo good !

I agree. It has been driving me mad for five years!

It manages to mangle even simple stuff. Whenever I type 'you', it changes it to 'Yu'. Huh?

It also changes correct grammar to incorrect.

let me guess, you have a contact named Yu? ;)

lol, I use two and I think both of mine have learned each others second language inside of each too.

Like others have said, resetting the dictionary might help. But if iOS 8 auto correct is really getting worse, it might not do much. Fortunately with iOS 8's public release, we will be able to install third party keyboards.

Most of the times this kind of bugs go away by final release, the worst bug imo is this one in regards of QuickType :)

Exactly. The designers have decided that you are wrong more often than you are right, and that they are almost always right.

turn it off?

People saying to turn off autocorrect or suggestions are not getting that this is a legit issue with the iOS8 beta. There is a new grammar correcting engine that tries to correct your full sentence and it can “correct” previously typed valid words if it thinks you mean different. It leads to more errors than before and it’s quite noticeable.

It has nothing to do with people just not liking autocorrect.

I agree....there are definitely several annoyances with iOS autocorrect. (haga for haha drives me crazy on a regular basis)...Resetting the dictionary will not work and turning it off makes little sense as well. I think apple needs to make it easier for users to tweak autocorrect on the fly for its users. It's just one of those ios features that I feel has not been updated for years.

This is present in iOS 7 as well.

agreed this has been happening forever in iphone, i type a completely correct word and it automatically changes it. and i go back and fix it and it changes it again.

suprised apple hasnt fixed it yet

It says "haga" for me.

Oh I get that too! I'll be texting haha and next thing I know it's haga..

I've reset the dictionary several times it doesn't matter. The autocorrect since iOS 7 has been just flat out annoying. It corrects words all the time that are properly spelled and completely changes them to something that's not even relevant to what I'm typing.

I wish there was an option to have it set to not correct words that are spelled right, only words that are wrong. That way it's not trying to change what doesn't need to be changed.

What annoys me the most though is when it decides to change two words instead of one and they're both right or only one is wrong. Would be nice to have another option to remove the double word autocorrect also.

I know, but it is way more aggressive and loopily wrong in iOS8. Have corrected “let” to “but”, “has” to “had” and most egregiously “at” to “AT&T”. These were all corrections from correctly spelled words, after the sentence had completed. Usually after I’ve already sent tweets, because I rarely notice when words I’ve already typed correctly gets “corrected” earlier in a sentence.

Oh, and being an Australian I never need to type AT&T ever.

Try autocorrect when you are using more than one language - that's when it really goes to town. It was a complete nightmare for me :(

Personally, I've permanently turned off autocorrect 3 years ago, and never put it back on - I have ZERO confidence in it. ZERO.

I regard it as one of those things that sound great in theory, but never ever work in practice - or maybe only for some people, in some usage scenarios. For me, it is not only useless, it's worse than useless - it's actively destructive, slowing you down like crazy.

I have the same experience with Siri. It's beyond stupid. Complete waste of time. Great in theory, complete disaster in practice. Maybe works for some people, but for me, it's a 100% total failure.

Autocorrect and Siri - one of the many "features" of OSX and iOS that I never use, because they're permanently broken for me. Maybe in 50 years they'll get it right, but I'll be dead by then.

I'm having issues when it corrects a word and I scroll back and re-edit it - it re-corrects it to an incorrect word most of the time.

I'm not sure if this is iOS 8 related or just iOS related but it seems to be worse on iOS 8.

My iPhone is constantly correcting legit words into something else. It always change "on" to "in". It changes "not" to "nit" These are just two examples but it is doing this all day, every day. Sometimes it changes to words that aren't even real words. Other times it changes real words to other real words. I'm constantly trying to re-teach it but it doesn't seem to take.

its across the board, iOS and osx . I've said the same to others, I swear its getting worse.
