Geeez, Apple was always about simplicity and perfection, this new switcher is anything but simple or perfect. My points:

Why you need little windows with apps, when you dont see what's in there, it's covered by icon of particular app.

Still only 4 on one screen, still wifi/3G/BT switch too many swipes away, for regular use.

Still doubleclick is needed.

Apple Switcher needs only one thing a gesture in addition to doubleclick, everything else is fine. No tweeking needed.
Wifi toggle should be in the Notification center, if needed.

It's nice but could be improved further.

Why not make the app switcher fill the whole screen, then you would have a lot more space to put a longer list, and the other settings would be less cramped. Once the app switcher is activated, it is impossible to use the main part of the display anyway, so I don't really see what you lose with this. Maybe could be activated with an upward swipe?

The more I think about the more I dislike it. The aesthetics of the thing is just so poor.

For example why is the "off" gesture a swipe down rather than swiping an app off the shelf (which is up)?

And it's too many taps and too cramped as others have noted. It's ****.

I like this design (hopefully apple will pick this up) but I don't understand what is so horrible about the current multitasking menu?

awsome feature

i really do hope that this is coming to the standard ios, i cant jailbrake my iphone because of company policies, {there are cases of people dismissed because of jailbraeking there iphones or ipads}, but it would be tempting to do so because of the look of it, and of the benift of usebility.

not apple

too complex. Apple stands for simplicity, not for tweaking and tons of options.

it would be neat if u could swipe upwards to get quick access to basic things. lets say i open the app switcher i swipe up on the message icon to get a quick reply window right inside of the app switcher (kinda like it does on the music button in the video)

something like "Zephyr" is also needed. i hate clicking the damn home button for everything
and those quick settings should be in the notification center

While it does look cool, i don't see the usefulness of it.

I am not particularly interested in what state the app exactly is. And i don't mess with 3G/wifi/brightness etc on a daily basis.

I've never jailbroken my iphone before, but i think i just might do it for this piece of awesomeness.

Is it really THAT awesome? I watches the video again and am not so sure. I'm not saying iOS doesn't need improvements; just not sure this implementation is it.

After all this time, and you still don't get it. Apple wants you to know at every moment where you are coming from. If you are browsing Internet,i and turn on the app manager, once you finish, you immediately go where you came from. But even if you plan to go somewhere else from the App manager, you are aware that you are leaving Safari. I love that feature, what makes it radically different than Android, Windows 8, and others. It may seem outdated, but such a feature is quite a revolution in mobile GUI.

Your hilarious. You actually called your opinion FACT!!!!
Oh just in case you don't understand, here is your OPINION:
Ofcourse I was talkkng about the rest of my post, yiu are merely quoting the conclusion.

Next news; Apple has hired this guy. I also wish you could switch siri and app switchers places, I dont like double tapping.

apple should implement & deploy immediately! this tweak really makes me wanna get a 5 and JB it.

on the other hand, can people stop saying "from the ground up"?

I assume this will be popular which means more than likely Apple will update their own for the next version of IOS. They tend to take their ideas from the best jailbreak features. Which is a smart move if you ask me. Give people what they want and they won't jailbreak any more.

I definitely agree with you here but don't forget, the mods and hacks are only wanted by the minority. Apple need to open up but not make it over complicated because that moves away from the philosophy of simplicity.

I got an idea reading your post

they should add an app store category : Human Interfaces, with apple approved UIs, it will also open further the spectrum of approved developers and tapping into more creative minds, while voting at the end of the year best UI of the future, sponsored by Apple. Just like the X project of sorts

never gonna happen, just sayin'

I agree. The current app switcher is clunky at best. Convenient switching is not possible if you happen to use a lot of apps on a regular basis and apps you don't use a lot stay in the background until you close them. The result is a lot of scrolling which is absolutely unnecessary if the entire screen would be used. This is one of the design decisions I have never understood and it has not been changed since then either. No wonder Android is taking the lead.

you misspelled samsung.

I hope not. While this looks like something Apple would genuinely implement, and it does look good. Multitasking in Android is already pretty decent. Being able to swipe apps away is so much easier than pressing a little red X on the app icon. It's innovations like this, that would ultimately bring me back to the iPhone.
