I am not affected by this rip-off. The most I would have to pay would be about $10 for MHL to HDMI adapter like this one:

Am I reading all this right? Are they not shipping a lightning to USB cable at all with new iPhones or iPods? That can't be right. They HAVE to include a way to power up your device when you get it.
And $29 for that adapter is bull. I was hearing $10 rumors and thought "hmm, ok" $30? F that and I'm a huge Apple fan since 1995.
Why would anyone pay $29 to buy an adapter to use an existing 30 pin to USB cable when you can buy an entirely new lighting to USB cable for $19?
Now, I see why they have BILLIONS of $$$!![]()
Wait, I thought these adapters were too expensive?
This is disgusting. What are they doing. Apple reinventing the wheel again. What's wrong with USB3?
This doesn't even make sense... You're commenting on the change of the phone end connector by asking about something that would be on the other end of the cable? Or have all Android phones dropped micro-usb and I missed that?
+1. Same here - ordered two USB cables myself also on the 12th...I saw the writing on the wall for shortages come pre-order day. And so it is.
Really? They have billions because they make products people want to buy, not because they sell overpriced adapters. I'm not saying they don't sell overpriced adapters, of course they do, but this is not the reason for their success. I truly hope you don't believe what you posted.
Just received my two cables from Apple today via FedEx... thought I would post a pic... seen them posted online but really didn't realize how small it really is...
wonder if they will be available in store before/after iphone 5 release. like to get an extra cable so I can leave one at work for charging, but didn't really want to pay $4 for shipping.
