This doesn't make any sense. If it was the router it wouldn't be doing this on multiple routers all on the same machine. What are you saying changing the ssid, then changing it right back, changes on the mac?

I happen to be a network admin at my work and could change the broadcast ssid temporarily but most people don't have that option.

x2 - also, it's not every time - this morning after sleeping for 6 hours, it did not do it. But sometime today after a shorter sleep it will happen - it's definitely Lion.....I'm not touching my router that never had a problem with any of my apple devices until Lion came home with me....

Same here!

Same problem here. New 13" MBA. My windows laptop on the same wifi network doesn't have any problems. This in definitely a MBA/Lion issue.

Same problem. Upgrading from 10.7 to 10.7.1 didn't fix anything. If fact, I think 10.7 was better

Hmmm.....

My problem is still ongoing too - I appear to have a variation of three outcomes:

1) After waking from sleep Wifi works correctly and the Air joins the network fairly quickly.
2) It wakes from sleep and asks me if I wish to join the network.
3) It wakes from sleep, it remembers the connection but after 10-20 seconds it brings up the ! mark on the Wifi icon and says Alert: No Internet Connection.

I've yet to see a pattern which would suggest why 1, 2 or 3 would apply to a given situation.

I have two locations set up, Home and Work - I seem to get better performance when only one location exists.

Turning Wifi off and on again seems to get it working though occasionally a restart is required.

I Purchased my MBA last week and am experiencing the same issues as everyone in here. I have a 15" MBP that I purchased about two years ago that runs off of the same wireless router and I never have any issues at all with it.

Obviously the MBA runs Lion, and the MBP runs Snow Leopard.

I will be returning the MBA tomorrow because I do not like the battery life of the computer, nor do I like the limited storage capacity. I will be trading it in for a 13" MBP.:apple::apple:

Well, that's not happening to a lot of other people, so I wouldn't be too quick to chalk it up to a Lion bug. I mean, it COULD be, or it could be something else.

Yes, YES it IS!!! Why in the world would you make such an assumption? It's actually happening to everyone in this thread! Including myself. Five different Macs that I've updated to Lion in the house. 2010 and 2011 iMacs and 3 Airs; a 2010 11" and two 2011 models...the 11" i7 and 13" i5

EVERY one of them have the SAME issue. 10.7.1 did nothing to address it. Same issues on the Apple board and it's a rampant issue. You should go back, edit your post...and say "that's not happening to ME!"

It would be helpful if people experiencing problems would post what kind of wireless router and connection they are using (b/g/n). Apple has been know (at least by me :D) to be a little finicky when it comes to off brand routers. Oddly enough, the Airport Express and Time Capsule have ALWAYS worked great for me. Hmmmm....

If it helps you and you're diagnosing the issue...I'm using Airport Extremes...both at work and home. 2010 Extreme and the new 2011 Extreme at Home. Nothing to do with the "Kind" of wireless router...nothin at all!

And for the record, my studio 27" iMac and 2010 Mac Pro have NOT been updated to Lion, still using Snow Leopard (as they are my $ machines for production), no issues.

It's definitely Lion.

I keep my entire iTunes library on my Time Capsule so to have it disconnect whenever i sleep the computer is annoying. Especially when I do reconnect then the "Time" drive becomes "Time-1" which breaks all the iTunes connections.

I guess its a Lion bug so we have to wait out a solution, but it really does suck when 1st party software and hardware have issues and the manufacturer is slow to fix them.

(The other major issue I have is Aperture remote libraries don't recognize referenced files. Aperture is professional software so Apple's ignoring this issue after almost 2 months is a sign of how little they care about the Pro market these days.)

This problem began occurring for me just this weekend. I generally use the Air for a few hours in the morning (weekends) and then close the lid and put it on the charger until later in the day. A couple of times this weekend the Air has woken up with no internet connection, due to having disconnected from my WiFi.

As others have noted selecting my WiFi network again gets it to reconnect after a couple of minutes.

I have the same problem, just turn off bluetooth. And turn it on after you've connect to your network. Mine worked fine after that.

It sometimes happens to me when it wakes up from deep sleep (not from regular sleep). Enough people are reporting Wi-Fi issues that I think it could be Lion-related. However, it might also be worthwhile taking it to a Genius Bar to see if it is related to the Wi-Fi card.

Same here. But I'm not that bothered by it, really. It's only from time to time, but it can still be annoying.

Turning off bluetooth worked!

Thanks heaps, this worked for me too! My wireless network now connects quickly and without fail. I've passed this information onto one of Apple's technical advisors. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon in a future update.

(I've got a 2011 MacBook Air with Lion 10.7.1)

Worked for me too, awesome! :D

Was it your own discovery or did you read about it elsewhere? Either way very much appreciated!

I still have this problem, and I don't see an EFI update anywhere. Is the update not including in Software Update?

My current boot rom version: MBA41.0077.B0E

President Madagascar?

Shut.
Down.
Everything.

2010 or 2011 model? If it's a 2011, take it in for a checkup, this update should be applicable to both 11 and 13s.

"None of your preferred networks are available" MBA13

OK guys, I have a three month old MacBook Air 13 inch fully up to date os OS X Lion 10.7.3 and after working perfectly for a couple of months it suddenly decided that it cannot find my preferred network.
Note that I only have 1 preferred network in the list!
-----
The behaviour is as follows:
Open the lid i.e. resume from sleep or turn it on from restart:
Pop-up tells me: "None of your preferred networks are available"
I then have to look through a list of available networks
I select my network
It connects (but still somehow knows the password!)
-----

I guess it was one of Apple's updates that did this a month or more ago.

It driving me crazy: Apple Inc is awash with its billions of dollars but cannot get its own OS to work properly?? WTF!! This feels like being back with Microsoft OS!

Apple started off by running all sorts of tests but have now given up!!

They have told me that it is a known issue and that they HOPE (!!?) that it will be fixed in a future update of Lion. They cannot even tell me when it will be fixed, if ever!!!
