wow. Glass trackpad. iSight HD. Super drive 🙂

Sexy. Not so keen on the massive rim around the screen, I'd rather it was thinner (like the current MBP).

nicely done, though I hope the internal optical drive is a thing of the past.

An optional USB BR drive would be my choice

Eh, not bad at all.
It would be better though if some of the rim around the screen was subtracted for the screen to be a little bigger.
And it seems like this is more likely to happen to the MB than the MBP.
If this was a new design though, I would buy it on the spot.
Nice work! 😀

rim has to be smaller.
mbp's are great for having a second display, with a big rim its nasty.

ehh, could be better.

I tend to believe that the 1" thickness will remain with no macbook air type taper to keep the workstation mode compatability afloat. 1" thickness is is just enough for DVI and express card external options, as well as internal considerations (hard disks, etc etc)

I agree.

And I'd much rather have a MacBook Pro that was a bit thicker than the current one if it allowed much better heat control and a third fan.

Silent fans that don't sound like a jet engine when at 6000rpm would be good too.

I like the look, the practicality is called in though.

Would an optical drive fit on the front edge of that design? Maybe, but I think the optional USB optical drive is the best route so far.

Many people just don't need to read or write Media on the go. That's something they can email of file share to a desktop.

Great Idea, I looked at the other mockups in the gallery, great, all of them.

Use TIMG tags.
Why not just post the link to the story on digg.com where you clearly pulled this from?
And it is very sexy, though a glass trackpad imho is trouble waiting to happen. 😎

To be honest, as much as I like the design, which don't get me wrong, looks awesome, I'd rather not have the Macbook Air Pro...

There's only so thin a laptop can get before you get some serious heat problems, all the threads on the MBA are proof really...

I love the rim.

NO do you know what that rim is??? its WASTED SPACE that rim is the whole thing being WIDER god people complain about the thing being too big as it is, do you really want the notebook being BIGGER? then no freaking rim that serves no purpose other than LOOKS

so for the curved bottom design, see attached pic

other than that its a pretty sweet looking design the screen just needs to fill the space, and the curve needs to be not so much

Very nice effort, but not a fan of the design for a few reasons:

The screen rim is too large. No need to make it that large, as it would add unnecessary weight and size.

If you taper all the sides like the MacBook Air, you lose the ability to easily have peripheral ports. I don't want things recessed like on the Air nor do I want something like having all the ports moved to an external port replicator-type device for the various jacks (Ethernet, video, USB, Firewire, audio) that would then connect to the MBP via a cable.

And burying the optical drive like that would make it more difficult to load/unload - especially on a black model where it would all be in shadow.

See people will actually expect something this thin now, no way will this be close to the new MBP, it's too thin and impractical for the label "Pro".

It looks cool though, as say a high-end black Macbook.
