It's five years old and is getting quite stale.

Yes, but the design has been proven to work, so why abandon it? Like I said earlier, a few tweaks, but a complete design overhaul is overkill in my opinion. Since it's the "Pro" model, people generally aren't as concerned with looks, so why does the look of it matter? I still think the MBP now looks great and after seeing them in person at the Apple Store yesterday, I have to say I love the design. In fact, I think the only tweaks should be a magnetic latch, add one more USB port to each model, and add a built in keyboard on the 17" model. Then the MBP would look great and also function great as well.

I agree, a few tech upgrades (firewire 3200, and perhaps usb3), one more usb port, maybe a x54 expresscard, not a whole design overhaul would make me perfectly content with the new macbook pros, I think the current styling is great and I have no complaints, only I want to wait for the newest tech, and hopefully not have to worry about the potentially timebomb nvidia cards. Maybe they will integrate dual ati cards in the new mbp, integrated for the go, dedicated for the power.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Expresscard 34 a newer techonogy than the 54 Expresscards? I only say this because my old laptop from 2002 or so had a x54 slot and now my MBP and my dads newer HP pavilion has x34.

No 54 is 54mm wide and 34 is 34mm wide. They are both PCI Express x1 and all. 54 can fit wider cards like X-Fi sound cards, smart card readers, etc. It can also fit all 34 cards; the 34 slot can only fit 34 cards.

I like the MBP the way it is, the mock up is nice but really it is a black MBA with a superdrive. I hope they dont go and taper the edges like the Air, Maybe a subtle taper but nothing extreme you need the space for all the power.

I think the new one should stay aluminum, a magnetic latch would be good, backlit keyboard (not sure the current one has one or not) oh a black aluminum option would be cool.

But If there is an update soon, Im sure apple will deliver and make up for the the 3G iPhone issues and the Mobile Me transfer problems.

I really like the fact that Apple doesn't update the designs often. It's great that my new Macbook Pro looks almost exactly like my four year old PowerBook.

Great designs are timeless, think Jaguar XJ or Bentley Arnage.

If they update the MBP it better be a classic.

Agreed. I don't want the possibly new MBP's to look like crap and have people associate that with Apple. Not to sound fanboyish or anything, but I just hate when any company makes something that works well but is ugly, because then it gets a bad rep.

And could you please show me any mac compatible notebook docks that are not the retarded bookendz and going to destroy my ports? and supply power in one unit?

Well for being such a professional why didn't you read the rest of the post? the ports would be on your power supply. Oh so you don't bring your power supply to you to work eh? you only use your MBP for 2 hours a day? Thats about how long the battery lasts when you have all of the extra stuff connected to it and ACTUALLY USE IT. Just because your professional needs are not the same as others doesn't mean that they are terrible ideas. It's just you being ignorant and refusing change.

I've got a story for you. There once was a guy who thought the MacBook Pro should have a power brick with all of the necessary ports in it. He burned, and died. The end.

Insta-Fail.
