A couple more hundred dollars off and it might actually be worth it.

Oh, that's right. I forgot that a products value was derived by how much you want to pay for it and not how much the market values it

Add a proper keyboard and touchpad, and I'll take two.

I love how people think a post about a sale on the computer is the opportune time to re-ligitate the discussion about whether the computer has the features you want the computer to have.

Apple isn't going to re-design the computer. It's too late for that. They've made what they've made. If you like it then you should buy it. If you don't then look elsewhere. Nobody cares what your personal priorities are. :)

I'll stick with my rMPB 2012 until Apple creates an actual "Pro" laptop.
"Pro" laptops need:
- A battery that last more than 3 hour when doing actual work.
- Magsafe for obvious reasons.
- An option for Nvidia GPUs since some of use use CUDA for our jobs.
- Traditional USB and HDMI ports, or include the damn dongles for free.

For some reason Tim changed the meaning of "Pro" from "work horse" to "fashion".
What you describe as a pro sounds like a consumer friendly / oriented laptop not a pro laptop.

The touch pad is way to big
not possible.

- This computers battery does last more than 3 hours when doing actual work.
- Magsafe has **** all to do with how "pro" a laptop is.
- External GPUs are a thing. Also, "pro" work that is GPU dependent should be done on a desktop. Unless you aren't a real pro and you can get by using a laptop with a dGPU. Are you a fake pro?
- Traditional USB and HDMI are worse than USB-C. Real pros know that.

I've been debating on finally upgrading my 2012 MacBook Air. Unfortunately, all the battery issues gives me pause + price still not great. I only get 3-4 hours with my old 11" MacBook Air....kinda of sad hearing thats what many get with these new "Pro" laptops.

I'm holding off until later into 2017. Maybe they'll have a mid-year update or upgrade for the 12" MacBook.

ok. I agree with most of your stuff, but there's nothing pro about MagSafe. If you're a professional, take care of your stuff and don't trip on it. We don't have MagSafe on other things like monitors or iPhones yet we don't trip on those sending them flying across the room

I upgraded from an early 2011 model about two weeks ago. The keyboard took me a day to get used to and another day to love. I've had zero trouble with the bigger trackpad. If anything, the extra space has been welcome.

I can understand people not liking the keyboard. It's different. It took me a bit to get used to because it's quite different, but at worst it's a lateral move. (Never loved the old ones.)

However... I cannot figure out how anyone can complain about the trackpad. It's awesome. I guess in theory you could have a track pad that was too big but this one isn't. Bigger is almost always better in this case.

I would wager most people in here complaining about needing pro features are actually not pros. Hard to believe I know. Blows my mind to think about it. People lying on the internet. What's next?

Can someone define a "pro" ? Is it the engineer using the machine for simulations? A photographer using the machine for editing? A label that makes you feel important?

I know someone that bought the maxed out 13 inch for Facebook and texting. Is that pro?

Has nothing to do what I would pay for it, I find zero value for a compromised peice of art.

You are right, vote with our wallets, and then its in Apples court to decide how to respond.

On the other hand it's a public forum. So he can post his priorities all he likes, can he not? Just how you shared your opinions on features two posts later, ironically enough. Heres another opinion for you to not care about, I quite like reading what people think about the latest mac designs, good or bad, silly or valid. Why else would we delve into these forums to begin with, when almost all of whats posted here is exactly that?

That has nothing to do with what I said. Do you just like to hear yourself talk?

Agreed. I voted yes on the new MacBook Pro and bought one.

On the other hand, it being a public forum can be used to justify literally anything. That's a meaningless point to make.
