Back to school 2013

Does anybody know if the BTS program is offered at authorized third-party retailers? I have a store credit from an electronics retail chain located in the Southeastern US, Brandsmart, and wanted to use it on a new MBP. Even if the offer isn't honored by Brandsmart immediately at the time of purchase, if you can show proof of purchase to Apple, have they historically honored the BTS giveaway?

As far as I'm aware its only from the Apple Store directly.
 
I want to buy a macbook air, so I hope for this new promo. Ipad mini would be a great gift for my boyfriend or to sell it.
 
Where the hell is this promotion already!? I've been delaying for months to get a rMBP. First for BTS, then for Haswell, now for BTS since Haswell is a no-show.

Unfortunately I can't continue to wait for the rMBP "updated line" because I leave for school overseas on Aug 10. Leaves me very little wiggle room if there were to be a delay in shipment of new models. Want to buy soon!

I expect it will likely just be the $100 App store card again but hey, thats $100 of out-of-pocket money I don't need to spend in the App store.

Why isn't Apple releasing this discount?:( For all I know they are just going to release the discount of a stupid, useless $100 iTunes card.

I am not getting angry at Apple, its just that I am frustrated at the deal not being released being as in the past couple of years, The deal was released sooner than this. Or it seemed that way anyway.
 
I just had a live chat on Apple's site with a sales rep and this is how it went:

I can't tell if that's a hint that something will start up soon or if she just really wanted me to buy a Mac already.
 
I think they will still happen, for several reasons. Didn't they already start the back to school a fewknyhs ago in Australia? I stopped by an apple store about a month ago ready to buy and the rep told me it may be worth my time to wait a few more weeks for the promo.

I think the program will be starting up soon... Maybe next Monday or within the week. I am going to wait just to make sure.
 
2 years ago they offered a $100 iTunes gift card and a free printer. If they did this again, I would be ecstatic. :) But seeing as how Apple is Apple, I'd be happy with a $100 discount on their laptops and a $100 iTunes gift card to save my wallet from overspending on their already expensive products.

As for the iPas mini as their add on promotion, I highly doubt that. Sure it would be cool if they did do that but they'd be giving away a $329 minimum product on top of a discount on the MacBook. That is too much of a hit to Apple's profit margins to be a possibility. But who knows for sure, right? Maybe Apple is going to spoil us this year (but I wouldn't bet on it).

Now about the release date of the promotion, I'd say before the end of June. They just had their Fathers Day promotion (at least here in the US) so I'd say by the end of this month it'll start up. We all just have to be patient and hold our money close while we still can and pray we don't have to give up too much of it. :)
 
Chatted with someone on Apple this morning. I didn't save the screenshot, but it went something like this:

ME: Good morning! I'm looking to buy a macbook soon. I know you probably can't answer this, but do you know if/when Apple is starting a back to school promotion this year?

APPLE GUY: I don't hear about promotions until the morning they start. Our education pricing this year is lower than ever, but we aren't aware of a back to school promotion starting.

To me, this almost sounds like he doesn't think they're having one at all. Let's hope this isn't true!! I've been waiting too!

The student discount is the same, no more than before.
 
I'm getting too eager to pull the trigger. I might do it this week. Plan is to order online so I get the Discover 5% cash back, the education discount, and have it shipped to Delaware store for pickup so I get no sales tax.

That being the case, when does the 14 day return period start? Upon payment (online) or days later when I actually pick it up?

Figuring by then the Back to School promo will have started, I can get it if I'm within that window, or if it hasn't, I can't really afford to wait past that point anyway.

Apple currently has a promotion going on with universities across the nation where the apple retailer gets $50 for every macbook they sell. My brother is an Apple campus rep in California. This promotion goes on until July and they will not run any other promotions along with it.

This would be unfortunate if it's true. I don't think I can wait until July 1st (and even then it guarantees nothing) to replace my mac. Oh well.
