This sucks. Maybe Apple has some plans for the iPod touch soon which influence this decision. Hope it is not just about Apple being cheap.
will i get this deal at a retail store?
can i get a 15inch macbook pro with a 1050p display at a retail store?
can I get the education discount at a retail store?
This is incorrect. Rev D (i.e. the 2010 model) is the first Air without backlit keyboard. It's the white MacBook which never had it.
Agreed that against Microsoft Xbox offer, Apple's is very weak sounding. But you can always sell the $100 card for $80 or so.
I think if the Air had never had a backlit keyboard in the first place, there would be far less complaints about the lack thereof in Rev D. I have never heard any complaints about that regarding the white MB, for instance. But the Air is a pricey computer, and it's easy to see as a downright provocation that Apple omitted the backlit keyboard only to save a few dollars on their part. Btw, there are 2 USB ports on the current MBA, which has always been enough for me (I use a Bluetooth mouse).Really? I could have sworn that it was a common complaint that it didn't have one and that they still hadn't added it on the new one?
Ah well, it's not a huge deal either way. As I said, I like mine but it's not a deal breaker (and it doesn't really make it more useful, I just think it's aesthetically pleasing).
So maybe they went downward that way but not on anything big.
Honestly, the bigger thing that would sway me away from the macbook air is the amount of USB ports (I can't remember if it has only two or even just one port. Either way I want either a third USB port or a firewire port... I just want a third port dangit).
Lostanddamned said:You know what I find insulting about this? (Yes, insulting, despite how privileged and petty this may seem).
They are offering UK student £65. So whilst they inflate the prices of devices to match one another overseas (yes, I realise this relates to VAT and import duty, but the fact is overseas Mac users still pay more) they do not also inflate the value of the discount. Seems cheeky to me.
I was holding out to buy a new MacBook Pro, but without the incentive of the opportunity to sell the iPod (which is a practice that seems widespread), I am not sure I will be able to. Especially when the iPhone 5 has not yet seen release, and I am due for an upgrade to this also (contract coming to an end).
The complaint is thats its a worse deal than last time. Sure something free is good, but its not as good as it has been, which for me is a little disappointing. I could have gifted the iPod to someone else.
You're still complaining about getting something for free.
