Installed my black leather today on a 6 plus. Looks and feels great! It makes the phone SO much easier to handle. A couple of points:

The cutouts are perfect but some of the straight side cuts weren't exactly... straight. The end result is satisfactory but I was a little bummed when I opened the envelope.

There is a very very sliver of aluminum that is exposed where the back meets the glass. It looks ok actually, but if you are OCD, get a wrap that is close in color to your aluminum to minimize this.

The material stretches. This can help or hurt. Just make sure not to pull on the corner pieces too much or you will end up with overlaps.

Heat gun, heat gun, heat gun. It's a necessity.

Overall I'm pleased. A straighter cut and a hair bigger and it would be perfect. Either way, it's staying on... Until it doesn't.

Is the gun metal carbon fiber the only one that has that reflective material? I am interested in the White or Silver carbon fiber but not if it has the same shimmer as the gun metal in the pics someone posted.

Any other colors coming? Maybe a Matte grey?

Correct, 3M decided to add metallic flake to the Gun Metal.:( IMO, it still looks awesome and adds a little bling. :)

The other colors are more of a satin finish and do not shimmer..

Again, only Gun Metal :)

Weston, I just wanted to make sure my order had gone through properly? I ordered the Color Series Black (headed to Hialeah, FL) on Saturday and haven't heard back.

My Review of SlickWraps Carbon Fiber

Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to give this wrap enough time for a solid review. I also haven't yet been able to take pictures of it, but I'll describe it in detail.

Cutout Fit:
The wrap fits relatively well, but the cutouts on the bottom aren't perfect. The hole for the microphone overlaps a bit - I've noticed this on some other review photos as well.

Corner fit: As I suspected, this is where I'm most disappointed. The corners just really aren't very good. I followed the instructions, used a blow dryer and have actually retried on several occasions to get them to fit right, but no matter what I do - stretch the corners, don't stretch the corners, etc... - they just don't sit right and there's a ripple effect. I'm not shocked about this, as we're essentially taking a 2D texture and forcing it on a 3D curve, but I'm wondering if the faux carbon fiber material is not ideal for this, as I've had other clear skins that have handled the corners just fine - it's very possible that my corners just weren't cut quite right and that the cuts are to blame.

Texture:
Overall, definitely a little more grip than the naked iphone when it's cold out and hands are very dry. However, when it's warmer, and hands are softer, the naked phone may actually be just as, if not more grippy. Sounds like the "sand stone" finish of the "colors" line may be better if you're looking for good grip. While I'm not as worried about grip, the carbon fiber wrap creates a less organic and somewhat sterile feel to the phone, which some may love, but I'm on the fence about.

Conclusion:
Overall, this wrap is okay, but does seem to offer better coverage than the others I've seen out there. Despite the fact that the microphone cut is smidge off, I'm pretty impressed by the cutouts, as the camera, volume buttons, sleep/wake, sim card slot and vibration switch cut outs all fell perfectly into place after properly aligning the bottom cutouts during installation. After looking through the Slick Wraps website, I'm interested to try a different type, specifically the leather, as I'm guessing it'll feel more organic (ironic, considering the fact that it's not real leather) and softer, but I'm most concerned about selecting the material that most flushly fits the corners. I haven't tried any of the other dry application skins (the clear ones I've had were wet application), so I can't compare them to Slick Wraps.

Weston, is there a particular option that fits the corners better than the others?

Just wanted to add. I ordered both the matte black and the leather. I would say that these guys have literally the best wrap fitment of any manufacturer. I ordered 6 other wraps from other manufacturers and these guys were the best by far.

If anyone is having trouble getting it to fit right I put it on stretched a few parts and got 100% perfect fitment with no gaps whatsoever and no ripples. It looked flawless. The secret was to use a 0.3mm clear TPU case as a sort of mold and put it on as soon as I finished tacking down the wrap. I flipped the edges of the case back and then flipped them into position so they wouldn't move the wrap.

Here's the thing though. The choice of materials these guys have sucks, and are chintzy and cheap. They need to come out with better materials.

- regular matte black with no overdone texture.
- matte clear that matches the stock texture so it's nearly invisible (like ghost armor).
- regular metallics that match the look of normal aluminium. Especially something that looks like regular space gray silver and gold.

The guys could easily be super successful if they moved away from chintzy material and moved to the good stuff.

I am between the two you just mentioned (and the matte clear, which is available. just ask Weston). Would you say the matte black had a lot of grip compared to the leather, or are they pretty much the same? I don't mind the texture at all if it adds to the grip.

Weston/Slickwraps..... Questions

1. The Alligator on the site shows a small/finer grain than the white Alligator posted above. I'll assume the site pics are wrong.

2. The black leather on the site shows a 'very' fine grain or 'no' grain (just pores), yet pics above show a pebbled grain (which I prefer). I'll assume the site pics are wrong.

3. Are there any plans for a White leather in the above pic'd pebble type grain? I'd like the white version of that :)

Anxiously awaiting confirmation that the Apple silicone case will work and not muck up the skin too much for taking off on. Would like to use the case in some more scary situations but don't want it to ruin the skin either.

The texture is very pronounced, it's almost like the kind of texture you see on skateboard grip tape, or the tape they use on stairs so your shoes grip to it.

The leather looks a bit cheap honestly, it looks better in photos than in real life, where it looks plasticky, but I don't think you'll get anything better with a wrap if you want leather.

Hello,

Sorry for your troubles. :(

This does sound like a installation issue as the fitment should be seamless like others have described. Please see attached photo of mine.

We do have a GOOF policy and we're happy to resend out another. We understand these are more complicated to install to achieve that perfect fit so we offer this policy as a courtesy. :)

When installed the result should be one of amazement as the coverage is so precise. If anything but that is achieved then contact us.

Hey There,

1. The site pics are renders. I believe the Alligator is next to be updated this week. The pattern is the same just needs to be enlarged. :)

2. Correct again. Renders "aka not real photos" as good as they are truly never show the amazing detail that an actual photo can show. :( Good eye!

3. Please shoot me a email and I can formally request that, we might even have that material in stock.

Yes, we have confirmed that the Silicone case does indeed work, just not the Apple OEM leather case.

Thanks.

Well what is that blue glittery space one? :) I'm going to try to google some real life pics of that series. The pic above shows some color gradation but it's probably just the pic.

Most likely lighting. The color and ultra bling glitter is very consistent.

It's kinda girly, but I love this color of blue. It's more of a teal than these photos are showing.

Weston - If you offered a clear skin with the same fitment as your wraps - I think it would be incredibly successful.

I wish these things were interchangeable. Would be fun to have a few and change them out on rotation.

I have my Best Skins Ever clear skin coming today and have a bit of a fantasy with putting a Slickwrap over the clear skin. Would probably be 'harder' to peel off and not fit. :(

Weston - It would be cool if you sold small Apple stickers like the cutouts, to fit into the logo hole. Different colors, change them out. Could be a stunning look. I also think a glowing Apple logo would be cool (and helpful to find in a dark car/bag).

fitted my onyx to my iPhone 6 this morning and unfortunately I've decided to give up with it already.

Install went well, used the heat gun as suggested in the install video and everything lined up correctly, although the camera cut out was slightly off in my opinion as the apple logo and bottom cutouts looked perfect.

but the corners are awful. I left my phone for a few hours and then went out, came back in and already the corners started coming away from the phone.

Unfortunately due to the shape of the phone i don't think i will be using skins.

Although i think i will go ahead and buy the Onyx for my iPad Air.

It does take some patience to get it perfect. Based on feedback most people are able to install it perfectly within 10 minutes.

We do offer a GOOF policy and we're happy to send out a replacement.

Thank You!
