Can someone please please post a picture with the area highlighted. Are you talking about where the screen/bezel meets the edge of the case or where the edge of the lcd panel meets the beginning of the bezel? Please post pics:confused:

Just tired to take a picture with my cannon but it is not coming out right at all. (focusing)

So this may or may not be a help to some but my backlight bleeding was in the bottom right corner and after "massaging" the area the bleeding has minimized to ALMOST unnoticeable. I squeezed the ipad from the back and front.

I turned mine down However, I'll probably give myself a few weeks with it and see if I still notice it or not.
Wow?

I bet if this was Android the fanboys would be flooding the net, bashing it immediately.

Ah yes, the hypocritical double standard ;)

Sorry to tell you guys this, but it's very normal for the iPad. I own a marketing company, and we supplied every one of our employees with original iPads. Literally every one of the 322 we passed out had the problem. Every. Single. One.

If there are people out there who claim to not have it, they don't know how to look. I think 322 is a pretty good sample.

Every iPad I've seen has had the backlight bleeding to some extent, including my first one. However, the bleeding on my iPad 2 is far worse and for $900 (w/ tax..) is pretty bad if you ask me...

Pressing on the bezel and side of the screen makes the left side bleed more/less depending where you're pressing. However the bleeding on the bottom, top, and right side doesn't change when applying pressure to the area at all.

sadly, after waiting in line as first (or second after someone just cut in front of me) for several hours, mine has it too at the bottom of the screen on the right side of the "home button." i tried to take a picture but the camera won't focus on the light-bleed to see it in a picture.

After a careful inspection I find the display truly excellent.

Sounds like an aberration and many will be returned.

The good news is Apple loves returns.

My black 16gig wifi iPad 2 has the exact same bleed. I had some on my first gen to a lesser extent. Never went way. It's not the same as the yellowing. I'll be attempting to exchange after few weeks. VERY NOTICEABLE

How often do you stare at a blank screen? Just out of interest....

Well upon turning on my White 32gb Wifi, I noticed immediately at the bottom what looks like brighter spots or indeed backlight bleed. I'm gonna give it time to see how it responds but at least it's not a huge issue yet. I'll try and take a pic once my sync is done...

This image shows the extent of the bleeding a bit better, not sure what to do about it at the moment. It's a bit annoying if you're watching a movie or doing anything with a dark screen...

I don't, however seeing as watching movies is a function of the iPad and considering most movies are not full screen and this effects the edges of the screen, it's quite visible against black. It's not even just a blank screen, the worst of the two bleeds are visible at the corners against the stock background. I don't see how anyone considers something like this acceptable when you're spending nearly $1000

Yeah mine is bleeding too, I'll probably take it in after a couple weeks.
It's extremely noticeable when watching a movie full screen.

Everything else about this device is fantastic.

Well, if it's the same display as the first gen, then I'd say it's normal, depending on your brightness settings. Try tilting your device left and right whilst on a black screen like that and see it change. Personally, I'm not a big fan of backlit LED screens right now. My macbook SR 2007 screen was far more comfortable to look at than the early 2010 macbook pro I have right now, even after calibration. Lets face it, we all knew the ipad 2 was not getting a better display. Also, I blame Apple for this a lot as I have requested numerous times for the brightness control to go as low as iBooks as standard. I guess I've got sensitive eyes, but for night time use, it's just too damn bright for me.

My 1st gen iPad has bleeding, my issue is the amount of bleeds how bright they are regardless of how low the backlight is set at. I can deal with some bleeding, I don't think I own an iOS device that doesn't have any bleeding, but this is really bad.

Can you please post a pic of a couple of apps or web sites? Chances are - you'll rarely look at a black screen. I'd guess even a dark website wouldn't shot it much. Try it out.

To get the ipad 2 so thin, perhaps they have gone for a side lit LED option? I returned three side lit LED LCD television sets early last year for clouding issues, which is pretty much the same effect as your photos are showing here. I think they have compromised the display even further for form factor. I'm not trying to wind you up, please believe me. I went for a plasma eventually that does not suffer from such effects (just others!) but my iPad 1 screen in the dark is very much the same and seriously lacking contrast ratio, just like my macbook pro. Blacks are just not black! I do not like these LED screens. They are most unnatural to my eye. I'm hell bent on getting an iPad 2, but having reviewed the screen etc, I'm not so sure now. I will agree with you though, it would appear to be worse than the first gen (sat right by my side now for reference), but I seriously believe it is due to the fact they have shaved it down. Under normal daylight conditions, I'm sure it looks great.

Here is a shot of my iPad 1st gen, taken with a 3Gs with a black jpg.

Yeah its bad when you could capture a pic of it. I hope mine is 100, because I ain't messing with it till the morning

I didnt see this thread and posted one moments ago. I have a white and black 32 gig from Apple store and both seem to have bleeding. My first one did and returned it. Will be returning both when new stock comes in. I have a feeling most have this to some degree
