The majority of those who watch the NFL, do not listen or know who Bad Bunny is. I would bet half of those that do, aren't really going to be that excited this artist at the half time show. As far as I know viewership is still down in general over the last 2-3 years for the NFL, I doubt this will tip the needle either way, and likely most people won't bother to watch the half time show. In the end, no one is going to care much other than the day before and the day after, and it will all be forgotten.
Huh? Kendrick, Usher, and Rihanna are the top three most watched halftime shows ever.

The NFL in the last couple of seasons has tried to broaden their appeal outside the U.S. The last two years the NFL has staged a game in South America, Brazil. I see this as a move to gain more viewers in Latin America.

They clearly care about the international market. This is probably an attempt to get Spanish speaking countries to tune in. They have a game in Spain in a few weeks, they've had games in Mexico, There are a ton of spanish speaking americans that will likely tune in that might not have otherwise.

It's not for me, and I probably won't watch it, but I don't mind for a second that they're doing it.

To clear up some things for those who don't want to wallow in their ignorance. Who seem to be proud of not having heard of someone.

Viewership isn't down

and Bad Bunny is one of the biggest artists in the world and a global artist. Not your little bubble. The NFL is trying to be a global sport. More people watch the Super Bowl outside of the US than within it.

He's the number two artist on Spotify. Sold out almost 50 dates last year on his US tour.

No idea who this is. If that makes me a "boomer", then I'll keep listening to what I like anyway.

I'm not much of a Metallica fan but I'd lay good money people are still listening to them in 20 years. I would not say the same for most of the recent halftime acts.

I have come to accept that the halftime show is simply not for me. That's ok. The music market is for the young. Middle aged guys like me will be watching the game because football is being played, not for the halftime show.

Most of the recent halftime acts have already been around 15-30 years. So, it's safe to assume their music will still be popular in 20 years.

I have never heard of Bad Bunny. I won't watch the halftime show in any case. Last year's Super Bowl haftime show was the end of the road for me. I would not had watched the halftime show at the following Super Bowl, even if the performer were Taylor Swift. I am an "aging" baby boomer. I have mostly lost touch with current pop "music".

Really because the in top 3 halftime shows by viewership Rihanna has been around 20 years, Usher 30 years and Kendrick 14 years. I doubt they'll just disappear at this point. Haha

Taylor reportedly didn’t want the usual halftime deal where performers just get a flat fee to cover production costs and then kick in their own money to make the show bigger, all in exchange for “exposure.” Word is she pushed for a much higher NFL-paid budget, several commercial spots worth millions to promote her new albums, and for the league to cover her dancers’ pay. She also wanted rights to use the halftime footage however she wanted down the road, including in her own projects like documentaries or music videos, which no other act has ever gotten. In the end the NFL said no, but it’s clear talks went pretty far given all the hints Taylor was dropping the past month about being the likely headliner.
So I'm guessing this is why she's keeping a lower profile during games this year (other than the Chiefs and Travis sucking this season).

If they're not paying, why give them eyeballs...?

He's a huge act--if you're fluent in Spanish (most of work is in that language). But Bad Bunny is not as mainstream in popular music as some think.
It’s okay if you’re not his demographic but he’s literally up there with Taylor Swift as one of the most popular modern music acts of all time. You’re clearly out of the loop. And that’s okay. But you’re clearly in your own bubble

However, Bad Bunny's demographic is still mostly in the Hispanic community, still a pretty fan base nowadays. it's not hard to figure why he's HUGE in Latin America, arguably the biggest star in that part of the world.

Makes perfect sense for the Super Bowl.....
