No ordinary 14 year old can afford his own iPad. No paper route pays that much unless you delivery across every state every weekend.

Why do people try to argue with facts?
No ordinary 14 year old? If I have the money and I want to buy it, thats my business. Oh, and not to "Toot my own horn" but I am an awesome teenager. :) I also think that I am more mature then my other friends so, I have the right to own one.... Ha.

One more thing, I am not ordinary, I am unique. Everyone is.

You don't have to judge a person even if you don't know them.

As another 14 year old who is getting her own iPad using her own money -- That simply isn't a fact. There's something called saving. If you save up your money, then yes, it can eventually become enough to buy an iPad for yourself. In my example, I earn $25 a week from tutoring people. I've been doing this since September, and I've earned over $600. I saved it all, and with previous savings I had enough to buy a 64 GB iPad (and some money left over). You are being judgmental.

And Burch, no offense, but those last two posts made you sound more immature than before.

Bro, I got my first iPod touch when I turned 16. I've since upgraded to a new iPod touch, then the iPad 2, then sold that when I got an iPhone, and now bought the iPad 3. I've bought the 16gb every time. Every song, photo, video, app, etc that I have had since I was 16, (now 20) and I've not even used 8gb yet.

You must not have much stuff. I have 62GB of digital photos (and im willing to bet thats very little compared to people here) and 486GB of music on my media server. That being said, I always have had 16GB ipads and have never run out of space.

Well, I don't have that many songs or photos, and if I do not need them or listen to them, I can temporarily remove them from my device.

I was 14 when I bought my iPad. I'm not going to comment on being ordinary or not.

We are not trying to argue with "facts", which are really facts all the things even made up that are inaccurate. If you can provide proof that these are facts, then I'll gladly admit that I was wrong but until then these just your opinions.

Hey, when I was 14 I mowed lawns, babysat, painted the neighbors' houses, etc. to make my own money. The kids in this thread sound like awesome young people. Some adults in this thread coud learn something from them.

I Had about 5gb free on my 16gb iPad 2 until I got rid of it to upgrade to the new iPad. 16gb should be fine. I recently cleaned up my iTunes library and I'm down to 600 songs from the 1400 I used to have. Although people say the apps will be bigger, no one will actually know until the iPad is released and we can see the file size of the apps. On my iPhone I have about 100 apps but on my iPad I had about 20 as there are many more iPhone apps that are actually useful than iPad apps. I also had infinity blade (a large game) on it. I downloaded a couple of magazines and deleted them when I was finished reading an issue to keep the space cleared.

The only way to know is to wait until you get it and see. You could always return it if you need more space.

I ordered the 16GB model too, and it will be plenty for me. I intend to rotate videos and cycle through the 220 Naruto episodes. :D (I dropped behind and want to restart;))

FWIW, I am 17 and do the same as other young folks on here. I save and manage my money, including swing-trading.:D However, I have an addiction to both apple products and r/c aircraft, which take a big chunk of my cash:eek:

Props to you OP for managing your money well enough to purchase an iPad. I'm 20, and I have horrible money management. I remember when people used to rag on me when I was a teenager about how my parents bought me everything, they finally figured out why I never did anything after school or on the weekends. It was because I was mowing 13-20 yards a week from 7th grade-Sophomore year of high school. I know, "cool story bro". Who cares. Ignore the ignorant people here who grew up without a work ethic and are bashing you.

16GB should be plenty for what you sound like you will use it for. If it turns out not to be enough, you can return it within 14 days or sell it on CL or eBay for just as much as you bought it for and save up a few more weeks and buy the 32GB.

Hey Burch

So you have some idea

A lot of games and other apps seem to range between 20 - 500mb.

Real racing 2 = 1.2 gb

Garage band = 1.1 ( only have a couple of songs in it right now)
Pages = less than 300mb (before any documents you add)

iBook = less than 100mb (not including book, but they take up little space really)

HD Movie = 2.5 gb or more likely less from itunes store, may be more if you rip in the DVD yourself at high quality.

Music will vary depending on bit rate.

So if you have a large music or movies library, you will probably be shifting based on what you want to watch/listen to.

Apps like Zinio (magazine app) and Goodreader vary dependent on how much content you have in them. I have a lot of PDFs for work on mine.

Most apps seem on average to fall below that 200mb from what I can see in the settings on mine. Some may bump up some with updates for the new display. But would think they would still be fairly small.

I have a 64gb with about 300 apps, 250 photos, and 6 videos. And could easily get rid of some of the less used apps if needed. Have about 10gb left. That is two years worth since I have had an iPad from the first launch.

Hope that helps.
