I'm not about to read this thread from beginning to end :D

But would one of the unlimited plans the OP was told have been the right one? And he picked the wrong plan?

Or was he better off staying on his grandfathered plan all along?

He just gave me one option that sounded good as he described it but it wasn't that great in the end. I'm wondering if the Unlimited Plus would be a good plan to go with if it really is 22GB per device. I was kind of looking forward to the 10GB hotspot on each device too.

It really depends on how the OPs bill was structured. After the Grandfathered plan increase in Feb, my bill went down $15 a month to switch to the new Unlimited Plus (even losing my 18% FAN). Plus I get HBO, Tethering, Unlimited Talk, Canada/Mexico roaming and more. So if you weigh all of the new features, the Plus is the better plan over the grandfathered.

Trust me, it 22GB per device plus 10GB LTE of hotspot per device, then hotspot is throttled. Its well worth the price of the plus. There are many features compared to grandfathered.

But its not shared. The link that I provided that shows the comparison clearly states per line.

The way I was viewing that info was signing into AT&T then going to my AT&T in the upper left, then scroll down to My Wireless then over to Change wireless plans. It keeps taking me into my account info when I try it now. It did say shared data when I looked at it and the rep at AT&T said the same thing when I talked to her after seeing that graphic. I know what you posted but I saw and was told something different. They both see legit.

I appreciate you trying to provide me with the correct info.

Yes, it says shared data because that graph is showing the amount of data consumed by all devices, hence its shared. But the throttle cap is not shared.

Interesting...so in some cases then, choosing to stay on the grandfathered plan would be detrimental.

Thanks.

Correct, especially with the yearly $5 per line increase. This year was the year that made it worth it to switch. I had plan on dumping the grandfather unlimited anyway, but then the Plus came out and I thought, well thats a fantastic deal for me, so I jumped on it ASAP because AT&T originally announced they are "limited time".

I’d follow the advice of everyone suggesting a switch. I was with AT&T for 13 years before I switched. Had you asked me a couple of years ago I would have said I’d never leave them but their plans and their customer service have crashed and burned. They’ll never get another cent from me.

The last straw was when my home internet just up and stopped working and wouldn’t come back no matter what I did. Called them and went through all of the automated troubleshooting then more live with a rep before being told they’d have to schedule a service appointment. EIGHT DAY WAIT. Sure as hell wasn’t doing that since I’m in school and depend on my internet pretty heavily. Cancelled all of my service that day and had a technician from my local ISP out the next day to hook up all services. The one time I’ve had an issue with it since then I got a same day appointment and all new equipment for free.

AT&T can rot.

I wanted a add a line for my kid on AT&T, and the customer service person I worked with had a big grin... telling me no problem, but they would take away my GFUDP. They played this cat and mouse game too long with GFUDP customers, so I went to T-Mobile. Honestly, my coverage was better with AT&T, but T-Mobile hasn't completely sucked for me. Like AT&T, they have a data cap... but T-Mobiles cap is 32GB... before they "may" slow down data in congested locations. I've never seen any signs of throttling, and I average +-50GB/mo. I get the push notification that I've gone over 32GB everyone month about 2 weeks before my billing cycle ends.

Yes, AT&T has better coverage... but T-Mobile doesn't suck in my location. I can remember when AT&T coverage sucked when Verizon was doing their "Can you hear me now" commercials. Like AT&T, T-Mobile is making moves to improve... looking forward to their 600 MHz LTE network rollout... accelerating network expansion in rural America. AT&T has great coverage now... but it wasn't always like that. I've contemplated going back to AT&T... but my last encounter with their customer service leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Plus I keep thinking as a long time AT&T customer.... AT&T got better over time... T-Mobile appears to be going that direction with their 600 MHz LTE network rollout.

I'm unclear whether any of these rates already include autopay discount but:

$85 ATT Unlimited Choice (3Mbps LTE speed cap, 128kbps after 22GB, no hotspot)
$20 iPhone
$20 iPad
$10 Apple Watch
$135 Monthly Service

$115 ATT Unlimited Plus (full LTE speed, throttled after 22GB, 10GB hotspot)
$20 iPhone
$20 iPad
$10 Apple Watch
$165 Monthly Service

Verizon Go Unlimited (full LTE speed, may be throttled anytime based on congestion, SD streaming, 600Kbps hotspot)
$80 iPhone
$20 iPad
$10 Apple Watch
$110 Monthly Service

Verizon Beyond Unlimited (full LTE speed, may be throttled after 22GB based on congestion, HD streaming, unlimited hotspot w/15GB at full LTE)
$90 iPhone
$20 iPad
$10 Apple Watch
$120 Monthly Service

There is a chance I won't get my plan back but they will remember who I am. I have a number of AT&T stores near me. I'll make it a hobby to be a thorn in their side. I'd have no problem sharing my experience with customers and potential customers.
Keep in mind, most AT&T stores are just “authorized resellers” and not really ATT. I recommend finding the store in your area that is a CORPORATE store, and only dealing with them, for this, or any other complicated issue.

I'll never understand how you guys use that much data. I'm on wifi at home and now wifi at work, but even before I was allowed on the work wifi network, I'd still only be in the 10 gig range.

Did the Unlimited Plus pricing go up? Because that's not what I'm paying.

I have T-Mobile and AT&T and I’m happy about them both expect my AT&T bill. I love how cheap T-Mobile is plus they get signal when my att phone doesn’t.

I had T-Mobile for a min , but I had horrible service up in the mountains. I live in California and I go snowboarding a lot during the winter, so for me, it was a nightmare up there. Switch to Verizon, problem solved. That being said, T-Mobile was great in the city though.

Seriously, just checked my bill, and then priced a new account just to be sure. Unlimited Plus is 75/mo + 20/mo for my iPhone, for a total of 95/mo before the 5/mo paperless billing discount. I'm not sure where those numbers come from.

That's what I get when trying to sign up for new service that includes an iPad and Apple Watch.

Possibly yours is single line only? Have you tried adding iPad and AW3, too?

It's definitely single line. Did I miss that OP is working with two lines? I'm not necessarily speaking to adding the watch or the iPad, but even still, wouldn't it be this for a iPhone, iPad and watch?

$75 ATT Unlimited Plus (full LTE speed, throttled after 22GB, 10GB hotspot)
$20 iPhone
$20 iPad
$10 Apple Watch
$135 Monthly Service

I think the iPad switches it up to a multi/shared line account.

Edit: Tried online with just iPhone and Apple Watch 3 and it switched over to $115 monthly base plan.

In the future, never ever agree to something without reading the contract details first. If you are pressured to act now, that is a big red flag to not move forward unless and until you can confirm (in writing) what is being conveyed to you.

You're totally right. If I add a $20 monthly iPad fee, some reason the bill jumps $40. Weird. I guess I'll just continue to use my iPhone's hotspot instead of adding the iPad :)

Tmobiles cap is now 50gb

When I call Verizon they always say never give up my gudp lines lol so I haven't and not planning on doing it with att but I do have their new udp

The number one rule is NEVER make any changes to your plan without first doing your homework.

Same applies pretty much everywhere.

Yes, I have an iPhone, iPad and now an Apple Watch on the account.

I usually research things very throughly before I do them or make a purchase. Things like this happen when I don't.
