She won't stop talking about it, so it seems like it. She hasn't made it past act 1 though. I tested it briefly before handing over to her, and it seemed okay. Still, if you have the option, I would look at 16GB on the M2. There are a few deals to be had on MacBooks at BestBuy and Amazon, and Black Friday specials should start showing up in a couple weeks.

I’d like to play a demo first

I made the fatal error of believing the hype and reviews of borderlands 3 on the switch

50 quid wasted on what I have to say has the most abysmal graphics I’ve ever seen on a home console ever

Once bitten as they say

I am playing on an M1 Ultra Studio with 64GB RAM and all settings maxed. The game plays fine for me.

My daughter tried it on a 2015 MacBook Air i7 and, well, the experience was so painful to watch that

My daughter is now playing it on an M2 MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM. Her settings are about middle for most things. I thought about an M1 with 16GB, but this seems to work so far.
At what resolution?

What about those who have no experience with dungeon crawlers--might they still enjoy the game?

I have 16inch MacBook Pro M2 Max, 32 gig ram. Currently about 45hours of game time on this machine.

The game runs flawlessly at maxed out graphics, FSR is at ultra quality and resolution is 2560x1600 with fullscreen mode.
I have also tried running the game at 4k and it runs perfectly there too but 2560x1600 seems like the sweet spot.
I'm on Sonoma so game mode for MacOS is enabled automatically.
The anti-aliasing is annoying as it resets after each launch which means you need to enable it each time too, I use TAA.
The fullscreen option also doesnt play nice with each launch and you need to fix fullscreen each launch.
HDR mode makes steam overlay completely unusable - however you can access steam on the desktop by minimising the game.

The 16inch MacBook runs relatively hot and the fans hit full tilt about 5 min into the game session, which is something to be aware of when having long gaming sessions.

You can buy the game on steam, play for like an hour (I think the limit is two hours) and if you don't like it return it for a refund.

I wouldn’t describe it as a dungeon crawler.
The combat is turn based, so it isn’t super fast paced if you want to consider your actions.
Other than that, the game is more like Dragon Age or Mass Effect. There is a story you are working through, and the choices you make result in multiple outcomes.

Has anyone else had an issue where the moment you change video settings the game plummets to about 1-2 FPS and then stays like that until you quit and relaunch (even if you restore the previous settings)? It's making it really hard to figure out optimal settings for my machine, but I'm not sure what's causing it.

I've not seen it do that.

I agree that 16GB should be the minimum today and for better future-proofing. Unfortunately, some people continually tell us that the average person doesn't need more than 8GB and that 8GB is "more computer than most people need!" 🤣

We saw it just this morning:

Or maybe it's that most MacBook Air users have no interest in playing games? 🤷‍♂️
Problem is they won't 16GB at the same price 8GB was like with the 15PM Max. Then people who don't need it are forced to pay morn.

8GB is a joke and yet, upgrading to 16GB for almost $200 is also a joke. Do you really think the memory chip is expensive to add? Not at all. All Macs should start at 16GB with a same price.
Exactly but they won't. They will just elimiinate the 8GB pricing tier like they did with the 15PM 128GB tier. I'm still pissed they did that. I use like 76GB storage so I would have to pay an extra $100 for nothing. Just because people want a nice camera and storage doesn't mean they use a lot iof storage

The recommendation of 16GB RAM is clearly misinformation. 8GB RAM is all you need according to MacRumors.
I'd definitely say for games like that 16GB would be much better, but not everyone games so not everyone needs 16

It is absolutely NOT $200 and to defend Apple on this particular topic is rather hilarious. This is obviously money-grabbing for them that has been going on for a long time now, made worse (planned) by their now non-upgradeable MacBooks.
Yea it would be another story if you could do it yourself so it would be a convenience upcharge

I absolutely agree that 8GB in 2023 is BS, as are the pricing tiers to higher configurations, but Apple has been doing this for ages, it will never change, and you're either willing to spend XXX for XXX configuration or you're not.

It's stupid, but I don't understand why people get so emotional about it either. If you're not happy, vote with your wallet.
And the issue is many don't. They just cough up whatever it costs, so why would Apple stop?

It will for sure increase the price, even if it is just 20$.

It would also cut into Apple's overall profits for that product line as more people would just settle with the base model.
If Apple would compensate on the base model pricing it could easily be 2-300$ assuming a spec bump both in RAM and SSD.

In the end, Apple always had to low base specs and if you want more you either buy at their prices or you get yourself a nice Dell.
Yes it may not directly increase but they'll do the same they did with the 15PM. They just eliminated the 128GB and its pricing tier. All the other tiers are the same price, so people who only need 128 need to pay an extra $100 for nothing

You can easily get a 15" PC laptop with 16GB of RAM on the base model for well under $1299 (15" M2 MBA - 8GB) so no, we don't want more for less. We want the industry standard amount of RAM in 2023, which is 16GB, for $1299. It amazes me how people defend Apple's penny pinching like Apple as a company cares about them at all. Crazy.
Problem is Apple won't sell base for the old 8GB price. They will eliminate 8GB and its pricing tier but need 16GB at the same price, so now 8GB have no way to pay $200 less. They already did that crap with the 15PM and the 128GB Tier

Sounds like Larian dropped the mac porting team?

@Homy
The team at Elverils yes but as the poster writes it could be because the game is out and they can be taking over furthur updates themselves. I don't know if it could also have something to do with Elverils being a Russian company in S:t Petersburg.
