The Renaissance of the 4:3

Games like The Longest Journey, Syberia etc. would also profit from this. Originally made for a 4:3 Aspect Ratio, the look terrible on todays widescreen displays.

Hell, ANY Game that is not very fast, older than 5 Years and has a 4:3 aspect ratio is ideal for this Platform.

Come on, Devs! Don't let your precious IP gather dust. It' still worth millions.

Baldur's Gate? I don't think so. I think this will work well on the iPad. All fairly large touch targets, all drag and drop interface.

The game has some good keyboard shortcuts that will be missed, but overall I think it's going to be a natural fit.

+1
Totally agreed. This game is one of the best RPG

Hot damn! I hope more PC big games are coming. Now we're reaping the fruits of Apple's decision to include a good GPU.

Even back in 1998, this game only needed a 2D graphics card. Baldur's Gate ran on almost everything, including the weakest office systems.

Anyway. Like traditional board games and tower defense games, this is one of the very few game categories that (can) work well on a touch interface. And Baldur's Gate was one of the very best games of that genre, if not -THE- best.

Even though I won't touch an iOS device with a flagpole, I can understand the commercial reasoning behind their decision to do an iOS port first. But since I've already played that game back in '98, and even though I REALLY liked and enjoyed every minute of it, I won't buy it again no matter what other platform ports they will make. Those of you who have not played Baldur's Gate before should definitely buy it the moment it is available. It definitely is one of the best computer games ever made.

Epic

This is epic!! I love Baulder's Gate! Now if we just get WoW on the iPad, I read Blizzard was looking into it..

I think that Diablo 1, 2 and perhaps 3 (if it's doable) would be good games for the iPad.

Very nice. I'be already played the original on PC, but I'll definitely play it again on the iPad.

This is great news. I like the idea of these adventure games on the iPad. Also games like Grim Fandango. I'm all for fast-paced FPS games etc on the consoles and my Mac, but the iPad suits these slower games. I just with there more as deep as BG.

One thing I've never fully understood... The very first day I saw the original iPad in action at Apple's keynote, I instantly thought "Real-time strategy games will kick ass on this".

Command & Conquer. Starcraft. I know there was a pretty poor (and expensive) C&C game on the iPad, but were there ever any really decent ones? Surely point and clicking where to build things and send troops is essentially a genre of gaming that begs for a large touchscreen interface!
