It's interesting that some members seem to be remembered fondly, even though they were banned for breaking rules and continuously annoying other members. Maybe we admire outlaws. And infamy can have a long shelf life.

Mods ban people for great reasons. It's the reason the process is so transparent - their reasons are always beyond reproach!

Actually, many rule violations are simply edited away, often with warnings for the member. Temporary bans are used when deemed necessary. Permanent bans are rare among non-spammers.It's pretty simple. Breaking the rules gets you banned. Isn't that how it always works?
