She's ****ing useless.

Clearly a first world problem for a rich, self-absorbed "has been". Siri has never pronounced my name correctly, but after noticing that, I moved on with my life.

Maybe we should all call/text/email Tim and complain that Sir doesn't say our names correctly.

Time to get over yourself there, Babs. No one really cares.

So people aren't allowed to dislike things and express their opinions? Well, good luck with that philosophy.
Seems like there are opinions and then there are just snarky comments just for the sake of making those comments and nothing else. Kind of like "Safari is snappier" or just plain "First" type of comments.

A lot of the snarky comments in this thread remind me of the comments that were made about U2 when that band was working with Apple a couple of years ago. Just because a performer is no longer in his or her prime doesn't lessen what they achieved at the height of their fame.

Streisand isn't everyone's cup of tea. That's fine. But does it make us better people to say how much we hate her (or U2, or the Beatles, or Dr. Dre, etc.)?

I agree. I've never understood the need for some people to jump in ANY article or post simply to say how much they hate something and nothing more. It doesn't add to the conversation in any way. It just makes the person look like a whiny baby. Especially for artists. I could NOT care less if you hate Nickelback or Avril Lavigne. I don't listen to them, either, but I never considered deriving some sort of self-satisfaction or superiority to say I hate them.

Sure you can. If you enjoy being a boring, negative person.

To be fair, no one else is ever using Siri to find out more about you so getting the pronunciation correct doesn't matter. I tried to ask Siri about John Stamos and I had to say Stamos incorrectly to get it to work right. That kind of thing COULD mean money to a famous person when someone is looking to buy their music or whatever.

You took my quote out of context. I never said that people aren't allowed to dislike things and express their opinions.

Good point. Or not. I cannot begin to imagine how much money Babs lost because Siri returned "StreiZand" when one asks for information on "Streisand". I stand by my "rich, self-absorbed" comment. But thanks for trying.

Yeah, I must thank her for a term I've never heard of before (and I'm no spring chicken or uneducated).
It has its own Wikipedia page:

The Streisand effect is the phenomenon whereby an attempt to hide, remove, or censor a piece of information has the unintended consequence of publicizing the information more widely, usually facilitated by the Internet. It is an example of psychological reactance, wherein once people are aware something is being kept from them, their motivation to access and spread the information is increased.

It is named after American entertainer Barbra Streisand, whose 2003 attempt to suppress photographs of her residence in Malibu, California, inadvertently drew further public attention to it.

I've heard it mentioned quite regularly.

I gotta call Tim now cuz my wife's name is pronounced correctly and now it won't be bc of some stranger.

And Apple also says Main Street wrong when using my address. Every other Main Street I've tried works fine.

If Siri can't understand it when you say "Streisssand", that's when it is a problem.

Besides, this is probably a BS article about Streisand casually mentioning it (probably with a laugh) during a longer phone call with Cook and the media took out that particular part because it is an interesting read and clicky headline.
