Bought a 2020 11inch Pro with 1TB storage earlier this year.

The screen is already great. The only reason I’d recommend waiting if you really want to would be for the A14x upgrade...

Saying that, if you have a much older device, this years pro models will feel like a great upgrade.

We need less OLED, not more, unless they can address PWM.
That's what I was thinking. The longer it takes for them to make an OLED iPad Pro simply means more time I can continue to enjoy getting a new iPad Pro before they ruin it like they ruined the high-end iPhones with PWM OLEDs.

Then what is the point of even using Mini-LED if they are going to go OLED right after? Just use OLED now. 😃

This doesn’t make sense.
They don't wanna put everything in one sock, they want to spread existing technologies over multiple years. There is no competition and Apple knows this. Why give the whole cow as when they can milk it.

If you are planning on using iPad for productivity purpose, which could leave static elements for hours, OLED will start to burn. Pro Display XDR's miniLED-style display is far better suited for Macs and iPads.
Agreed. I'm in no hurry for OLED on my iPad Pro. I do love the blacks and contrast ratio of my iPhone 12 Max Pro, but I don't think it will work for those iPad super users...

MiniLED is less expensive then OLED. Hence why I think it will be for the iPad Air and iPad Mini and eventually the iPad when the price comes down.

iPhone tends to be used in shorter bursts, typically displaying dynamic and random contents. Navigation app is perhaps the most glaring exception.

TV is consumed in longer duration, but also for consuming dynamic contents and games. Exceptions include network logo and banner and games with static elements, both of which should be avoided if possible.

The LG TVs do pixel-shifting to ensure the "logo bug" moves around a bit and not continuously fires the same pixels. It is imperceptible to the user since there are so many pixels.

Also, RTINGs has been running burn-in tests on OLED TVs and it was over 5000 hours of continuous display before permanent burn-in started to occur on static elements and that was with the television at maximum brightness (peak NITs).

As such, I really believe burn-in is not going to be an issue with an iPad except in very edge cases.

Thats correct, I'm not and I don't want to for many reasons. I also don't have OLED TV but I have the flagship SONY LCD tv. The only OLED product I have and use is the Apple Watch.
Mini LED tech is superior to OLED in many ways. OLED is just a wrong stop. Micro LED is the way to go.

MicroLED is indeed the way to go because it gives you all the benefits of OLED. :)

But with the first 55" television shipping in 2021 at a retail price of $70,000 we're going to be waiting awhile before production capacity is mature enough to drive that price down by the factor of 100 that has to happen before it becomes common in consumer electronics.

Mini led for 12.9
Oled for 11 inch

I expect the opposite, to be honest.

Why? Mini led is coming for 12.9 in 2021...they will market mini led as being better I imagine

MiniLED is rumored to coming to the 12.9 in 2021. And even if it does, if OLED is pushed to 2022, then the 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 could have it.

I'd prefer an OLED iPad Pro 12.9 to replace my 2018 since I use it pretty much solely for video playback, so I might just hold off on the 2021 model if it is MiniLED to see if they do launch OLED in 2022.

I so, so hope the next generation of displays for the Pros come with OLED. Mini-LED will just be a compromise/in-between technology and is not as good as OLED.

Hmmmmm!

Mini LED is much better than OLED in many aspects. Its a good stop before we get MicroLED which is still years away. OLED is expensive, has issues and its just flawed tech. I doubt we will see OLED in iPads I think we go with Mini LED for few years and then we go to MicroLED.
I strongly disagree. Micro LED is the only real challenger to OLED. Mini LED has a lot of issues of its own, with clouding, heat management, price...

I don't think OLED burn in is as bad as people make it out to be. Me and my wife both have OLED phones, both with zero burn in. It seems as a bit of fear-mongering and worst case scenario talk. I think Apple would design the UI elements in such a way that burn in is not going to be an issue with OLED.

My next ipad upgrade will be when it comes with OLED or equivalent tech (not mini led). That means I'll happily hang on to my 2018 IPP 11" until then. There is virtually nothing on the app store that uses even two thirds of its power at best anyways.

My wallet will be very happy!

Mini-led is a much better tech than OLED? Again, I completely disagree. The only thing its better is it doesn't suffer from burn in. Its a better version of a full array backlight. Its still an LCD.

I'm not saying its not a step up from today. But have you seen the Samsung tablets with OLED? They are incredible. I would love to get that on an ipad.

BS. There are different types of OLED: for smaller screens (phones, tablets) and for larger screens (TVs). XDR would either be too expensive (if at all feasible) with the former tech or not as good (with the latter tech). In this case we are talking about a tablet with "good" OLED.
