Yes definitely need more wireless charging in public before phones go all wireless. Heck I rarely even see WIRED around here except malls and airports.I think it is too soon to move to a Qi only iPhone, but eventually we'll get there.
Qi needs to be everywhere though. In the car, on your desk at office, on public places like bars or restaurants so while you have a meal you can put the phone down and charge it. That way the vast majority of people should be able to make it through the day.
We're not there yet, Qi is slow and isn't widely available. 2021 is simply too soon.
Balmer joked about a phone that doesn’t have any keypads in 2008. He said nobody will buy it.
It's not that nobody will buy it. It just seems like a huge inconvenience. What do you do on a hike when your phone is dying? hold it to a wireless charger? strap that charger with a rubber band to a phone? You would need to cary wireless charger with you at all times. You need a power bank, a cord, and a wireless pad. Or a huge powerbank with wireless charger integrated. What if you are riding a bike with phone mounted in phone holder and it runs out of battery?
But there will still be battery cases to fill that needs...Which is my complete point. If you don't have a port on an iphone, you cannot connect it to a battery pack.
Doesn’t seem to be in its current implementation. Maybe in the future. Nope.In-Display TouchID >FaceID
I don’t understand how any one person could believe this rumor. At so many practical levels, this doesn’t make sense.I, for one, would be happy to drop Lightning in favor of USB-C connector but no connector makes no sense to me. Jony’s gone so his “form over function” stand should be re-evaluated.

Whether one likes, tolerates or hates the notch is subjective. And we don’t know what Apple will do in the future, likely though not to be eliminated.FaceID creates a weird horrible notch screen and makes no sense to continue using for the new design. The new FaceID system seems like for older X,XS, 11 devices.
Battery cases typically only hold 1 to 2 charges and can only charge your phone. They also prevent it from being used with a lot of peripherals like gymbals and drone devices. A wireless charging case would also charge your phone rather slowly. A battery pack can charge your phone and multiple other devices and doesn't weigh your phone down when you use it with peripheral equipment. But there will still be battery cases to fill that needs...
There are fewer than 10 million iPad Pros that have USB-C, but there are over a billion iPhones/iPads that have Lightning. Plus a couple billion Lightning cables.I’ll be disappointed if they don’t go USB-C with the iPhone Pro, given that they went with it with the iPad Pro. Just keep it consistent Apple.
Pro Range=USB-C, Regular=Lightning.
There’s no rumor of that, but you never know. It’s still pretty early, though the design is almost certainly frozen.Still hoping for embedded touchID. FaceID continues to be annoying af at times.
They said this when it was thought you could never put a man on the Moon. They said this when Apple removed the floppy disc
They said this when they removed the CD drive
They said this when they removed the headphone jack.
Point is people created noise for about a year but then just got on with it. And the same thing will happen with this too.
1 or 2 charges plus a further two days for a phone like the pro max. So really would tasks and where would people be going where 4 days on a charge wouldn't fit most people's needs?Battery cases typically only hold 1 to 2 charges and can only charge your phone. So few have USB-C iPad Pros that there’s very little upside to switching. There are upwards of 200 million Lightning iPads—but fewer than 10 million USB-C iPads—in the installed base.Where in my post did I say using lightning wasn’t an option?
I just merely stated that the Pro iPhones should fall in line with their iPad counterparts.
