I'm sure with a screen name like Sayhey, your allegiance is clear. But I'm wondering, do your Giant days go all the way back to NY? And does IJ's Dodgeritis go all the way back to Brooklyn? If so, I would expect some pretty good boos going on.

For most Dodger and Giants fans, the old New York rivalry is just something you read about. Still fun as baseball history, obviously. They could throw the Shot Heard Round the World in my face, I could claim Jackie Robinson, but it would be mostly symbolic.

A large component of the current rivalry is the Nocal-Socal thing. For those who don't live here, it's a bit hard to explain, but here it is in a nutshell: They think we steal their water, that all our women have breast implants, and that we're generally up to no good. I'm not exaggerating much when I say that they raise their children to hate us. There's an odd inferiority complex there, considering that San Francisco is one of the finest cities in the world.

For our part, we think Nocal is a marvelous place to visit. Otherwise we don't really think about them. Unless you're a diehard Dodger fan, in which case you get perverse joy out of watching San Francisco fans shake their fists in frustration over having won fewer World Series than Miami, Phoenix or Disneyland. :D

I'm not that olde!

Well nearly I guess. I grew up in New Jersey, as a Mets fan, back when there were ten teams in the NL and the Mets dwelt consistently in the cellar. It was consistently painful to be a Mets fan during those years, but nobody from NJ in their right minds would be a Yankee fan, that's for sure. Besides, our patience was rewarded in '69, and 1970 wasn't bad, either. After I left the state for college and then moved to the West Coast, I weaning myself off the Mets. Those were good years for the Dodgers, and my girlfriend in college was already a fan. So it was easy to make the transition.

I'm planning on braving the rain tonight, just to boo Barry. Not really, but for most Dodger fans, it would be a good enough reason.:)

well the day before yesterday, Griffey left in the 4th inning b/c of stiffness behind his knee. didn't play yesterday, but said that it's not serious.

my fingers are crossed

still sticking to my statement - over 40 homers!

IJ and I are about the same age. My first year of following the Giants was the '62 season. By '64 I was an addicted Giants fan (and yes as my screen name indicates, a Willie Mays fan.) I was a kid at the time, not a late comer to baseball. So, in answer to your question, no I don't remember the New York Giants. Never needed the history of New York and Brooklyn to boo the Dodgers of Koufax, Drysdale, and Wills - the bums. ;)

We call Don and Sandy bums too. But only because "three-time World Series champs" doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.

Pretty great win today. I thought they were cooked after Cora's error, but Loretta saved the day.

Of course, a lot of credit has to go to Eddie Guardado for sucking so much.

not nearly better. Loretta's first ever walk-off homerun, first homerun of the year, and the Cardinals suck :p
please, they were both just as bad.:p

Not nearly as bad as those last place yankees
Well when the Yankees play the Mariners they will beat them too, I can't wait for the Red Sox to play some hard teams.:p

Well we all know what a strong team the Rangers are.

Alright, there's no need to throw a tantrum there, calm down.

Is anybody as surprised as I am about the Mets? 10-2? I have to say, I wasn't expecting a start like that.

Ben

Its Yankees Devil Rays tonight and I hope the Yankees can win a few of these games this year and not fold to the AL East worst.
