This is rather concerning, which particular model is yours? Was it second-hand? And do you know if the battery is a replacement?

It’s the late 2011 13” model; bought it new from the local apple store back in February, box still sealed. It was a replacement as the first one I got as the ‘T’ key kept jumping off when pressed however the guy in store said it was a straight forward swap for a new one (not refurbished etc.) as it happened straight away and I took it back within a day.

My late 2011 13" macbook pro stands at 22 cycles and 92%. I was also a bit concerned about this and posted a thread earlier. Since then I have noticed the full charged capacity has increased to 5311 from 5224... So I have now decided not to worry about it too much...;)

Sounds very similar to mine (I haven’t seen an increase yet). Did you do anything different or just continue charging/using as you were before?

I just kept on using it as before except i have started to shut down more often. I read the full charge capacity varies from time to time. Doubt it will go back up to 100% though...

Thanks nannan, I think i will take a leaf out your book and not worry about it so much :)

Just bought a new one.

Battery: Late 2008 removable type

Apples price: $129

Used on ebay: $40

Got it today and powered on, guess what? A whopping 0 charge cycles!!! Sweet!

Right now its showing 0 cycles
106% health
MBP is 39 months old or so.

Totally made the ebay deal of the day- saved myself $90!

Does Apple guarantee battery life > 90% for 1000 cycles or is it > 80%?

I'm at 88% after 27 load cycles, 13 weeks.

Wow, good job!

Just curious, how could you determine it was authentic and all that? I'd be worried about getting a knock off that'll goof things up.

Either way, I don't think mine is user replaceable. I think I had read Apple charges $99 to replace these.

Seller had 100% feedback and said he got the same model computer but it had bad charging circuitry. Thought the battery was worth a shot for $40

Seems to work well... But on a side note, when I plugged it in it gave me a charge estimate of 13 HOURS. Odd, but i could live with it. Somehow I guess I unplugged the magsafe (and switched graphics cards..), not it says 1 hour 40 minutes to charge... WTH??

A faulty one?

I havent got my for 3 weeks yet and my stat at the moment is 93% health and 10 cycles. Do I have a faulty one? :(

1 week old, 4 cycles, 99%. Been fluctuating between 96% and 102%.

Only if total capacity falls below 80% will Apple consider it to be defective.

It's been declining steadily since I got it less than 1 week ago. Except for the first 3 times when I fully drained the battery and recharged it (didnt know I was doing it wrong), I've been charging the batter whenever it hits 40%. Just wondering if it's the correct way cuz according to what I've read it is.

You can charge it whenever necessary these days without there being an adverse effect on the battery capacity.

If it continues to decline I would take it into an Apple Store and see what they say.

Thanks a lot for replying. THis is my first Mac so I'm so clueless.
