Another here 13 months, my rMB is down to 88% battery capacity, I own MBP`s that are over 4 years old and holding stronger (90% +) with significantly more cycles. Really starting to think that planned obsolesce is de-facto for new Apple, previously I always observed 4-5 years of usable battery life.

Right now on current usage my 2015 1.2 rMB will be lucky if it makes 2 years before needing a new battery, good for Apple, not so good for me. Would prefer a slightly thicker system with a more reliable battery life overall.

4832mAh, 91% health, 294 cycles, 14months old.
I have been as low as 82% health a couple of months ago.
Now coming from 86% after a week with very low usage.

Mine is the same with the value fluctuating. Is good to see some with high cycle counts still seeing decent numbers, equally I would rather the battery capacity was more stable like the older portable Mac`s as looking an hour or more less of runtime in the first year or so is not so good.

rMB`s been on battery all day, looks like it`s going to drop out just short of the 5 hour mark, do have a lot of tabs open in Safari, multiple MS Word & Excel documents open, and Mail, 50% brightness. Previously I would be expecting 6 hours plus under similar load.

For me battery runtime & longevity is one of the major features of a portable Mac, would seem that this dynamic is changing for the worse on face value. Apple`s obsessive focus on thin & light is simply making the Mac far less attractive to me, as the compromises are stacking up & usability diminishing, model by model.

27 months, 97% health, 146 cycles. Machine is used daily. Very pleased with the battery longevity when I am off the AC

27 months???? some of you guys (and girls?) must have been out early getting your rMB's.

Lmao. I wondered what on earth you were referring to, then I checked the thread title again. Oops  It's a late 2013 I have I think

Mine is a 1.1 256gb rMB from 2015. My battery is at 90%

9.9 / 26 cycles /4782 mah

Bought mine second hand with only 4 battery cycles and 102% battery back in February.

I also own a rMBP so that probably gets more use but the battery on that is much better. Was debating selling one of them and I'm afraid that it would have to be the rMB as it just has too many compromises and small issues that the rMBP just doesn't have.

103 cycles, 89% health. 9 months old, just bought apple care as well. Keyboard is failing as well.
I love the machine, but qualitywise this is a complete failure in my book from apple. I'm gonna wait until battery life is degraded below 80%, then gonna have keyboard and battery replaced.

12 months used/254 cycles/84% health :/ My 1 year coverage expires in 4 days but don't know if I can afford applecare

Either ways you may well be paying out as the battery is clearly loosing capacity. My 2014 13" rMBP has over 95% of battery capacity, my 2012 15" rMBP has over 90% of battery capacity, yet my 2015 12" rMB is down to 90% in the first year, with the MacBook having the lowest cycle count...

I am of the opinion these days that Apple`s fixation on "thin & light" is simply resulting in too much compromise for my liking. For me one of the Mac`s strongest points was the run time on batteries in comparison to their OEM PC equivalent, with the battery have significant longevity.

We will need to see how the 2016 rMB batteries fare, as potentially Apple have solved the issue, that is if Apple perceives this to even be an issue. All in all I have been impressed with the rMB, however the reduced battery longevity in comparison to older Mac`s fails to impress, as it directly impacts usage.

A quick survey of some of the rmb 2016 at stores reveal that the battery issue has not been resolved.

Apple has little if any incentive to remedy as long as the majority of it`s customers are satisfied. Once the battery requires replacing, or better still a new notebook, it`s just more money in the bank for Apple. After all the one thing that Apple excels at is, selling Apple...

20months/84 cycles/4710mah for my 2015 retina macbook.

Just out of interest may I know how is everyone else's macbook been fairing lately?

19 months/135 cycles/4628 mAh (88%) 2015 RMB. Pleased with the battery life so far, still get the "all day battery life" with my light usage.
