787 cycles as of this morning. 74.8% of capacity according to Coconut Battery. Interestingly enough, the Service Battery indicator has changed back to "Battery Condition: Good".

And do you still get the "Time to charge your laptop - battery is low" message all the time so you have to go on mains?
How much time approximately do you get out of your battery (I know it depends on your usage. Brightness has a lot to say. I have mine on 50% most of the time).
I'm on 415 cycles (may 2015 model) and still get 6-8 hours. (most used apps: safari, iBooks, keynote, iMovie, Eye TV, sketchup)
Often below 80% capacity. (lowest 65%)

i dont have app. but my specs in the if are this after about a month/half

A little update on my new replacement battery: 34 cycle count and down to 95% of Design Capacity.

Way more trouble than it's worth, and frankly, borderline dishonest.

I'm torn on this.
Of course it's dishonest and abuse of Apple's return policy, BUT the issue clearly is Apple's fault in the first place by cheaping out and using sub-standard components.

Why should the customer have all the hassle, be without his machine for X days/weeks and not being compensated in any way? I don't say I encourage this behavior, but I won't judge someone for doing it either.

We're early adopters on these laptops. I got mine the first day they came out a couple years ago. There are going to be growing pains.

I bought Applecare for peace of mind for three years. If something breaks, they fix it. That's the deal.

Your argument is strikingly similar to stealing something from a department store and saying "they have so much money and are sticking it to the consumer all the time with shoddy merchandise that this won't hurt them a bit".

You can justify almost any behavior in your life if you really go about it. Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

I lose 5% battery each night with computer on and lid closed.
Would that be considered acceptable?

Thanks

I bought my 2015 15" MBP in June of 2015.

17 cycles, 8265 mAh.

The last 5 cycles, the battery has seemed to stabilize. Coconut says it is at 94.4% capacity. It's been as low as 93%.

I didn't buy Apple Care because it's cheaper to replace the battery on my own then what AC costs. I'll never wear the battery out in my uses. I only use it on battery power about once a month to keep the battery in use.

Well everybody, she's DONE! This is my final update on my original rMB battery:

928 Cycles
3709 mAh
70% of original capacity

Going into the shop today for replacement. I have AppleCare so there is no charge.

So there you have it, real world performance after nearly 1000 cycles. Again, I do not do ANYTHING to prolong my battery. I bought this new the week it came out and charge it when it's empty and use it all day to discharge it.

I'll have a new battery over the weekend and perhaps I'll start again with monitoring it, perhaps I won't.

Take care all!

Thanks for the update. 2 years-1000 cycles. Not as bad as I expected for some time.
I have used mine more or less the same as you have but with about half the cycles. (462 since may 2015).
Since last month I am able to use it more on mains and it looks it is more stable now (81% health now for quite some time when I was well below 80% on battery, fluctuating a lot).

Did yours still work allright or did it come up with the battery service notification all the time? How many hours roughly did you get out of it at the end?

I was going to ask how come you were lucky enough to start with 6500mAH (mine started with 5550mAH) but then noticed you have a MacBook Pro....this is the MacBook forum ;)

FWIW my MacBook is at 89% after one year and 170 cycles. I don't think your experience is untypical.

Bought around June of 2015, IIRC. This is my secondary computer, as I have access to a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) at work and a custom PC at home for HTC Vive and other gaming related fun. Spreading the usage is key in my situation I suppose.

I'm the third owner and IIRC it was originally purchased in December 2015 by the original owner (@ghsNick). I've owned it since July last year and here's how it is now:

342 cycles
4584 mAh
86~87% capacity

So it's still holding up pretty good but the battery life has constantly been a disappointment, I usually get between 4-5 hours doing web browsing and listening to music through iTunes.

Bought mine around June 2015. Never got the battery to last more than 6 hours at the beginning, and by November 2016 I was lucky to get more than 4.

Got a battery replacement just before Christmas and then sold it as I didn't think it'd be any different even with a fresh battery, combined with a few keys sticking every now and then.

Keeping my eye on a 2017 version as I loved everything about it minus the 1st gen keyboard and the mediocre battery life. Ideally I'd even like a 14" or 15" version.

Mine is:

April 2015

105 cycles
4644
88 percent

2015 15" Mid 2015

Battery born March 12 2016

62 cycles
8493
97%

Not holding up as well as my old 2013 13" but not doing badly.

I haven't read the whole thread so it's probably been mentioned but I highly recommend the Fruit Juice app. Replaces the battery icon in the system tray and watches your battery usage, recommending the amount of off-power time you need to keep those electrons flowing. Great little app with an active developer.

Edit: perhaps I should read what forum I'm in and more closely examine the thread title  Oh well the Fruit Juice app advice stands
