How long should my iPhone battery be holding up?
I turned it off from 3g to edge so I can have better performance...
I also turned email to fetch rather than push.
My concern is, (I just got it Wednesday), that after a day and a half, I have to charge up after minimal iPod usage, heavy texting, minimal internet, minimal phone calling...
Is this normal?
By that same token, if you've used other 3G phones before, the iPhone 3G's battery life is surprisingly decent. If you never had an EDGE iPhone you won't likely notice the difference so much, but the WOW! battery life is definitely gone.
My battery is getting better all the time.
I got seven and three quarter hours before the phone finally shut down.
3G, Push and Location services are all turned on![]()
Worth noting that Li-ion batteries do "improve" after a few charge cycles from new.

That is pretty good. but what was your usage like? Listening to music mostly, or browsing etc?
Ok this has been bothering me what is the clock in the right hand corner by the play icon
that clock is the alarm icon. if you set an alarm that clock will appear until the alarm is turned off or passed. I'll be posting my battery picture later on today.
Do you have push or fetch e-mail activated? Location services? Try turning everything off, including wireless and bluetooth, except 3G. Your battery may take some time to condition, but if this problem persists for more than a week or two, you should take it back for a return.I just got my phone, charged it all night, and this morning it lasted about 3 hours total. What gives? I noticed standby and usage time were equal, that doesn't seem right, anyone know why it is constantly active?

Yep -- I switched from a TyTn II (i.e., ATT Tilt) which is way more of a battery hog than iPhone 3G. I also get better call quality on my iPhone.Similarly, a lot of the HTC WinMo handsets (specially ones like the TyTn with the sliding keyboard) are just as shocking... the iPhone 3G really is a whole lot better than most 3G phones.
