I have a series 2 and I thought it was the Walkie Talkie app, but it still doesn’t seem great. This is day. Could turning off the WiFi help?

I am down to 91% after 2 hours without doing much at all. Kind of wish I had not upgraded. watchOS 5 is smooth, but the battery life is trash.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve never had trouble with any other Apple update in 10 years of owning products.

I turned off the WiFi earlier and it turned itself back on! Can I disable it all together? I’m never far from my phone.

Yeah, I had no issues with my series 2 until now.

You can turn off WiFi. You just go into your settings on the watch and look under WiFi. There is a toggle to turn it off.

I did turn it off but it turned itself back on.

I was up at 5:50 this morning and had fully charged my watch overnight. It’s now 9:40 and my battery is at 83%. I walked my son to the bus stop but have otherwise been lounging around since I have a cold.

I tried restarting it this but the only thing that did was drop me by 5%. So disappointing.

Mine is actually slightly improved over the course of the workday, but markedly better when running a GPS workout. Before the update if I did an outdoor run or walk for, say, an hour, I’d lose about 30% battery. Now, I’m only losing about half that. Which makes me really happy!

You went into settings, or just the control center by swiping up from the bottom? That won’t turn it off. You have to go into settings. I don’t think it helps much though.

Oh. Just from the control center. Will go through settings. Thanks.

Series 3 much worse. Usually a finish a full day with about 50-75% but now 10-30%. I have podcast app. Ran with it but did notice the big battery hit. Will try that in future.

A few days after updating mine, still bad. Wore it overnight per usual, not much of a difference woke up and it was maybe 96%. I am trying to use the Siri watchface. 60min run, 30mins of streaming music LTE, otherwise it was connected to my phone and wasn’t used. Currently I have 41% remaining. Should I try to repair it again??

I don’t think it will help. I think WatchOS 5 is just killing the battery right now

I don't understand why this wasn't an issue with the Beta. Surely some AW3 users on the beta had poor battery life?? My watch isn't even 11 months old yet.

Do we know they didn’t have issues with battery life?

No, I honestly don't keep up with beta versions, but I think this is one that would have been addressed before the final release?

Deleting the podcast app from my phone didn’t make a difference either.

Yeesh bad to worse here as my SS3 LTE just died for the day on iOs5, hope this gets better or I might have to try to roll back, if that’s even possible. Here is a timeline if my usage.

10pm took off the charger with 100%, DND and Theater mode, no sleep tracking

4am wake up with 95% remaining, which was same as iOS4

5-6am Outdoor run, 30mins of streaming music over LTE

7am-2pm little use besides checking the time, was connected Bluetooth to my phone

2pm-7pm moderate use, mainly returning txts, either connected to phone or WiFi no LTE.

7:30pm 0% remaining

How is this possible?? I updated iOS5 on Monday and have yet to see a return to better battery life? So far I’m more then disappointed in iOS 5 with things that were talked about just not working and now it’s eating my battery too. WTF Apple??

At the risk of jinxing myself, I haven’t noticed a difference on WatchOS 5 on my S3 LTE. If anything it might be ever so slightly better.
