I was easily getting 2 days out of my series 3 on os4. this series 4 on os5 is getting into the 30% battery range in less than a day. granted I did spend more time with it to get it configured, but I did most of that through my phone. we'll see how it goes over the next couple days

Yup. Same here. My S1 got exceptional battery life. Granted I’ve probably been tinkering with my new S4 more than I think, which may account for the difference in battery life so far. Also, battery life drop isn’t linear ... so who knows. I hope the S4 doesn’t disappoint.

Yeesh bad to worse here as my SS3 LTE just died for the day on iOs5, hope this gets better or I might have to try to roll back, if that’s even possible. Here is a timeline if my usage.

10pm took off the charger with 100%, DND and Theater mode, no sleep tracking

4am wake up with 95% remaining, which was same as iOS4

5-6am Outdoor run, 30mins of streaming music over LTE

7am-2pm little use besides checking the time, was connected Bluetooth to my phone

2pm-7pm moderate use, mainly returning txts, either connected to phone or WiFi no LTE.

7:30pm 0% remaining

How is this possible?? I updated iOS5 on Monday and have yet to see a return to better battery life? So far I’m more then disappointed in iOS 5 with things that were talked about just not working and now it’s eating my battery too. WTF Apple??

Yep I am really pissed! If it wasn’t ready why did they push it out. Most people are using legacy devices, what the heck.

Been through all the Betas and no real issues. SSS3 LTE and SSS2.

What i have noticed is the S3 there is no difference to battery, I still get around 2 days. S2 is hard to tell as I only tend to wear it whilst I charge the other one or sometimes overnight, but seems a little down - overnight it loses 8%, my S3 loses about 3%.

FWIW podcast and walkie talkie on both and I haven't played with the Wi-Fi setting. Did do a re-pair on both though.

All in all seems ok on OS5 for me.

For those having issues have you re-paired?

Yes unpaired and repaired.

Must be an app then, as the battery is taking a hit for some, not others :(

That is what I don't like about the watch app - when you go to battery on the iPhone it tells you which app is using the most resources, not on the watch app though. What is the usage time like? My last readings on the S3 were 4 hours usage and 48 hours standby.

I haven’t looked at usage yet. I will try after today. I don’t know what app it would be. I have the exact same apps as I did on watchos4. Also deleted a ton of app when I repaired.

So I can confirm, the watchface has not effect on battery. I just changed mine this morning to the very simple utility that I ran almost exclusively on watchOS 4, and the battery is still not great. I don’t see that much difference between it and the Siri watch face I was using. WatchOS 5 is just not efficient period.

How can I check the battery usage? I think I have a bad combo of using it for long outdoor runs and the Siri watchface. Still not lasting me the entire day with very little actual use.

Going on the watch app, going to general- about- and usage. Siri watchface has nothing to do with your battery. I tried another watchface, and the battery drain was the same.

Thanks appreciate it. I was just thinking, I hope this is somehow just a few watches (eventhough it sucks it’s apparently mine), but can’t imagine letting 3rd party apps be complication won’t eat away at more battery life. That’s why I’m waitibg to upgrade to the 4 and at this point glad I waited considering a lot of those new faces are limited in what complications you can actually add.

Yeah I was hoping if was just an issue that could be resolved for just a few people. It seems this is across the board. I don’t run any 3rd party complications, so i shouldn’t have those eating up battery life.

Changed from Series 3 GPS 42mm running latest version of Watch OS4 to Series 4 GPS 40mm running Watch OS 5 and I definitely think my battery drains a lot quicker than my older Series 3 on Watch OS 4. I checked all the settings too to ensure I wasn't wasting battery somehow.

Basically the same as above for me today, just took a 15min phone call on LTE with air pods and I’m at 18% remaining.

Battery usage 3 hrs 5mins
Standby 18hrs 6mins

Hopefully on the next update this improves. Was also reading about ‘indexing’ after an update, but it’s been a week at this point so doubt it’s that.

Any point on trying to unpair and repair from backup?

Installed. Battery life is amazing. After 3 days I've got 1000% battery on 5.0.1

I switched off ‘detect gym equipment’ after reading these forums. And doing that has calmed any fears of poor battery life.

My 42mm Series 3 battery life has dropped dramatically after updating 5. I charge to 100% before bed, then wear it overnight to wake me for my child's Dexcom alerts. I use Theater mode to prevent it lighting up every time I move in my sleep. Before the update I would see at most 2% drain overnight. With 5, I would see 10-15% percent drain. Last night I had 20% drain after 5.0.1

So no go with 5.0.1?

Unless you are having issues with Activity ring credit, which my family has seen, I would wait to see what Apple does next.

Yeah I am planning on it. I just had to setup both my series 2s as new to get the battery life under control.
